Brady adding another notch in his belt in his match-up vs Peyton Manning

This has been a crazy season so far in the NFL. We have 5 teams  in the AFC w/ a 5-6 record who are still in the hunt for the last wild card. Last week also witnessed a tie game, Brady vs Manning XIV living to the hype & took a crazy fluke play to ensure a winner , the Redskins nation already thinking bout benching RG III after a dismal performance & Brandon Browner of the Seahawks might be facing a yr long suspension after being caught w/ PED’s. This is the 2nd Seahawks player who was caught within a yr because they caught Richard Sherman last yr. Clean up your act Carroll & crew.  I wonder what week 13 has for us starting w/ the thanksgiving festivities. Before I start, congrats to Kobe Bryant for getting that 2 yrs, 48.5 mil contract extension, ensuring him finishing his career as a Laker. In his words & also his tweet, “ a Laker 4 life”.

Thursday

Green Bay vs Detroit- The Lions open up the thanksgiving games w/ this match-up w/ their NFC North rivals. It’s round 2 since the Packers won the 1st match-up. The Packers are coming off a tie vs the Vikings & they won’t have Aaron Rodgers for this game as he’s still recovering from the shoulder injury. The Lions are coming off a home loss vs the Bucs, but still tied for 1st w/ the Bears in the division, however they owe the tie-breaker because of the head to head match-up.  The Packers are still trying to hold ground til Rodgers return & I wonder who’s gonna to start this game. I know Tolizen started, but Matt Flynn finished the game. The Lions are like Dr Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, you don’t know which team will show up. Memo to N’damukong Suh, let’s hope you don’t do any stupid on thanksgiving like you did 2 yrs ago when you kicked that Packers lineman in the balls.  The Lions are 6 pt home faves. I like the Lions to win & cover.

Oakland vs Dallas- 2nd game on turkey day. The Cowboys are coming off their victory over the Giants where Tony Romo lead them to a game winning drive after the Giants tied it up. It was his 21st career game winning drive & it showed his clutchness down the stretch. The Raiders are coming off a home loss vs the Titans. Both fanbases will be pumped up for this game because I know a lot of Cowboys & Raiders out here in California . Let the gangstas come out. The Cowboys are 9.5 home faves. I like the Cowbroys. For Letty Bear, enjoy this win because December’s coming up & you know how Romo does in that month.

Randy:

Pittsburgh vs Baltimore- This game rounds out the thanksgiving festivities! Round 2 of the best rivalry in the AFC North. Both teams are 5-6 & in the hunt for the last wild card spot  The Steelers won the 1st match-up in Heinz Field. Botth teams are coming off wins, the Steelers dominated my Browns while the Ravens made life hell for Geno Smith & the Jets. Throw the records out the window when they play & expect a lot of hard hitting & probably a lot of flags. The Ravens are a fg home fave. These games are always close. I like the Ravens to win & cover.

Sunday

Tennessee vs Indianapolis- Round 2 of this AFC South battle. The Colts won the 1st battle  in Tennessee. The Titans are coming off a come from behind win in Oakland while the Colts got popped in the mouth in Arizona. Colts fans are probably wondering when the “real Trent Richardson” will show up because he hasn’t lived up to their potential when they made that trade. The Titans still play competitive since Locklear got hurt & Fitzpatrick’s holding his ground. The Colts are 4 pt home faves. I like the Colts to win.

Noez:

Randy:

Jacksonsville vs  Cleveland- My Brownies will try to redeem themselves after getting popped in the mouth at home vs the Steelers. Jason Campbell had no protection & those ribs got to him again , resulting in Brandon Weeden finishing the game for him. Only bright spot for the Browns last game was Josh Gordon going for 11 catches for 220 yds & a td. The Jags are coming off a road win in Houston.  Can my Browns get back in the race? I hope so. The Browns are a td fave. I like my Browns to win & take the under. I know Weeden’s getting the start, but something ‘s telling me we might get a Caleb Hanie sighting if Weeden stinks up the joint.

Noez:

Randy;

Tampa Bay vs Carolina- Both teams are coming off wins. The Bucs are starting to finally win games after starting off 0-9. Where was this team earlier in the yr? The Panthers are coming off a come from behind win in Miami. Cam Newton was struggling in the beginning, but regrouped & got his composure. Round 2 of this divisional battle. The Panthers won the 1st match-up in the Sombrero. The Panthers are 8 pt home faves.  I know the Bucs are looking good now, but Carolina’s hot!! I like Killa Cam & the guys to win in a close game.

Noez:

Randy:

Chicago vs Minnesota- 2nd battle of this divisional battle. The Bears won the 1st match-up in Chi-town. The Bears are coming off an ass whipping in St. Louis, but still tied for 1st in the NFC North w/ the Lions while the Vikings are coming off a tie in Green Bay. It may come down to quarterback play & whether McKnown or Pounder won’t make mistakes.  At least it’ll have a great running back match-up between Adrian Peterson & Matt Forte. The Vikings are 1.5 home faves. I like the Bears in a close game.

Noez;

Randy:

New England vs Houston- The Pats are coming off one of those classic wins whenever Tom Brady & Peyton Mannig faces off. They showed their guts after being down 14-0 early in the 1st qtr. I thought their game would end in a tie til Carter touched that ball on that punt. The Texans are coming off a loss to the Jags & it got to the point when Andre Johnson said “we suck” after that loss. The Texans & Falcons have been the 2 biggest disapointments so far this yr. The Pats are 7.5 road faves. I like the Pats to win by least 10. Enjoy this swan song for Gary Kubiak or Matt Schaub because their window’s closing for a championship.

Noez:

Randy:

Arizona vs Philadelphia- The Cards are coming off their dominating win at home vs the Colts. They are a beast at home, but when they are on the road, that’s a different story. The Eagles are coming off their bye week, but Chip Kelly made it official by saying Foles’ the starter from here on mow & Vick’s has no problems with it. They’re also still in the hunt for the NFC East w/ the Cowboys. I hope this won’t be a game  that they wet the bed. I know Foles hasn’t thrown an interception yet, but he’s gotta face Patrick Peterson & Tyrann Matthieu aka the Honey Badger. The Eagles are a fg home fave. I like the Eagles to win & cover.

Noez:

Randy:

Miami vs NY. Jets- 1st battle of this AFC East battle. The Jets are struggling after losing their 2nd game in a row  & the Ravens made life hell for them in Geno Smith. Despite throwing 2 ints & getting benched for Matt Simms, Rex Ryan’s still starting him this game. For the Dolphins, coming off a tough loss at home vs the Panthers, however at least they didn’t have to hear more bout Martin & Incognito. Both teams are in that race for the final wild card spot  at 5-6. The Jets are 1.5 home faves.. I love my Havana gf, but I can’t see Geno beating the Dolphins when he struggles. I like the Fins by a fg.

Noez:

Randy:

Atlanta vs Buffalo- The Bills are coming off their bye week while the Falcons are still struggling & coming off a home loss to the Saints. The Falcons are playing for next yr & draft positioning while the Bills still a slim shot for the wild card. The Bills are 3.5 home faves. I love E.J. Manuel, but the Bills haven’t been in a meaningful game late this season in a long time. I can see the Falcons play the role of spoiler. I like the Falcolns by a td.

Noez:

Randy:

St Louis vs San Francisco- Both teams are coming wins & making rhe NFC West the best division in the league. This is the 2nd match-up between these 2 teams. 49ers won the 1st game on my b-day in the Lou’. Funny moment in the Bears/Rams game was when Chris Long left the sideline to break up a fight between one of his teammates & his brother Howie, who’s on the Bears & their parents were in attendance. For the 49ers, they’re going have Michael Crabtree back & that’s big because they’ll have their weapons for Kaepernick, who was struggling the last 2 games before last night’s win in D.C. It’s gonna be a tough game in Candlestick. The 49ers are 8.5 home faves. I like the Nineers in a close game.

Noez:

Randy:

Cincinnati vs San Diego-The Chargers are coming  off a stunning win in Kansas City & they’re also in that hunt for the final wild spot at 5-6. The Bengals are coming off a bye week, but their remaining schedule is brutal & they need to win out because both the Steelers & Ravens are still breathing down their neck in that division. It’s gonna be a great qb showdown between Dalton & Rivers. When both qbs are on, it’s hard to stop both teams. The Chargers are 1 pt home faves. I like the Bengals to win this game because of two reasons; they still commit to the run (a problem the Chargers have) & they won’t have to face that cold weather back in the Midwest.

Noez;

Randy:

Denver vs Kansas City- Round 2 of this match-up. The Broncos won the 1s match-up 2 weeks ago & knocked them off the undefeated list. Both teams are coming off heart breaking losses. The Chiefs lost a home game vs the Chargers & both of their best pass rushers & offensive line got injured in their game while the Broncos lost a heartbreaker in New England.  People are saying that Belechik has Peyton’s number. I don’t know if he does, but something bout the Pats makes Manning shiver. Big game & it may decide who wins that division & homefield advantage in the AFC. The Broncos are 4.5 road faves. I like to see the Chiefs get payback at home & win a close game.

Noez:

Randy:

N.Y. Giants vs Washington- Both teams are coming off losses & I doubr they still have a chance to win that NFC East. The Giants lost a home game to the Cowboys & they needed that one to stay in the race for the division. The Redskins got popped in the mouth by the Niners & Ahmad Brooks said something that Redskins nation are probably thinking right now: RG III shouldn’t be out there. At this point, I think they should bench him & let Kirk Cousins finish out the yr. The sophomore jinx’s got him & his leadership skills has been taking a hit this yr. The Giants are a pt road fave. I like the G-Man to win & cover.

Monday

New Orleans vs Seattle- A great match-up for Monday night football. The Saints are coming off a win in the ATL. Jimmy Graham looked good & him bending the goal post after the td he scored was the highlight on Thursday. For the Seahawks, coming off the bye week, but making noise w/ Brandon Browner’s suspension. I’m listening to JT the Brick & they’re killing him. The Seahawks are killing themselves w/ this & this is the 2nd time the Seahawks had to deal w/ this problem. Clean up your locker room Pete Carroll. By the way, remember the last time these 2 teams played in Seattle. The famous Beast Mode run by Marshawn Lynch happened & the Seahawks wre a 7-9 division title team that defeat a 10+ win Saints team in ’06. The Seahawks are 4 pt home faves. I like the Seahawks to win & cover, but they better hope this Browner situation doesn’t hurt them long term.

Titles & Pulling cards

Posted: April 5, 2012 by djplaymaker in NBA, NCAA, NFL

Your kings of 2012 college b-ball

What a week we had in sports!! We crowned two national champions in b-ball (congrats to Kentucky & Baylor), Gregg Williams getting caught on tape issuing bounties, Nike unveiling new NFL uniforms & the NBA on their play-off push as well as Stan Van Gundy calling out Dwight Howard. We’re going break these topics!!

NCAA B-ball champs- Monday & Tuesday, we crowned two champions in college basketball. Kentucky was the heavy favorite all season. It finally got a title for John Calipari. He’s took 3 school to the final 4 & now he can call himself a champion. He has a squad w/ 2 of his players (Anthony Davis & Michael Kidd-Gilchrist) the next candidates of the “one & done” motto. Davis had a poor shooting game, but did the right tangibles to help them team. Question for next yr, can they repeat? You’re losing Gilchrist & Davis, plus even though Calipari said he’s not going anywhere, you may never know. If the right NBA team calls him & gives him the right offer, then see ya Kentucky. For the Baylor women’s team, they went undefeated @ 40-0. I don’t care if it’s a men or women team, undefeated is undefeated in either way. Brittany Griner brings excitement to women’s b-ball. It helps that she dunks, something we haven’t seen since Lisa Leslie & Chaminque Holdsclaw do. I’m glad she’s staying for her senior yr because if she had declare for the WNBA draft, she would had gotten more overseas. She has a man’s game in her DNA.

You got caught, what to do now?

Gregg Williams- Someone got caught w/ their hands in the cookie jar. Apparently before the divisional playoff game between the Saints & 49ers, Gregg Williams motivated his defense to injure several 49ers. I understand a coach’s job is to motivate his players, but these players have families & if they’re injured & career threatening, you’re taking food out the families’ mouths. The funny thing about this story is that the filmmaker Sean Pamphilon was doing a film about former Saints special teams player Steve Gleason, who’s suffering from Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Williams was caught off-guard & now Gleason’s mad because he wasn’t authorized to publicize what he recorded. Talk about a cover-up. Sean Payton was appealing his suspension today & this comes out! Not looking good for him.

Does Dwight want Stan gone? Apparently, SVG thinks he doe

Stan Van Gundy vs Dwight Howard- What a year for Dwight! He was in trade rumors all yr. Trade deadline passes & he’s still in Orlando, talking about “He’s all in” for the team. Now Stan Van Gundy tells the media that Dwight wanted him gone. Dwight’s never denied it, but he’s asked who was the source who leaked it out. I like that he did that. I hated when reporters say “I got sources”, but won’t reveal them. Be a man about it. However, some of this is Dwight’s fault. He’s been emo all year. Flip flopping from wanting to be traded to now he wants to stay. If Orlando gets knocked out in the 1st round of the play-offs, he’s gonna to do the same rountine in the summer.

That’s my blog for this week. We got the NBA playoffs in 3 weeks, the NFL draft in 2 week baby. Baseball’s started, (go Yankees & Dodgers). Happy belated b-day shoutout to Chanel Raelene (congrats on the expecting child). Happy b-day shoutouts to April Benton, Sara Nunez (happy to hear the news about your son’s progress) my cousin Kimberly Curry, Eric Contreas, Evita Ortiz, Joaquin Daniels, & Veronica Rivas. Lake Show still runs L.A, however I wouldn’t mind a playoff series between Lake Show & Lob City. Catch ya’ll on the next blog & make sure you check out the homie Screws blog “Screws U”

Milestones & death penalty

Posted: August 19, 2011 by djplaymaker in MLB, NCAA

Jim thoime = Mr. 600!!!

What’s going on out there young America! I know everybody’s enjoying themselves this week. Last week, we had our 1st full week of preseason football as the fans were getting their competive juices back for some pigskin. Week 2 starts tonight, however there were a couple things that got my attention this week. Let’s talk about them shall.

1) Jim Thome= Mr 600!! Congrats to Jim Thome as on Monday, he hit 2 homeruns to crack the 600 hr milestone. He joined 7 other players that includes Bonds, Ruth, Aaron, Mays, Sosa, & A-Rod. However, there was one question a lot of radio media asked: is he a hall of famer. To me, I think yes. I watched him during his time w/ the Indians when he was overshadowed by power hitters like Albert Belle, Manny Ramirez, & Roberto Alomar & he still put up like 30+ hrs & 100+ rbis a yr. He was never mentioned in the Mitchell Report, which is a plus for the common old school fan. He’s also a great mentor for the young generation of superstars. So yes, he’s hall of fame worthy.

2) The “U” & their troubles- What the hell’s going on out there in Coral Gables? We just found out yesterday that Nevin Shapiro, a former booster @ the University of Miami now serving 20 yrs in prison, claimed that he treated players to sex parties, nightclub outings, & boats to 72 players from 2002 to 2010. Really, 8 yrs? Why wait til rat them out then now? I mean, if you’re ratting to cut some time off sentence, but damn. In the last 18 months, the NCAA has been investigating major schools like USC, Ohio St, Auburn, Michigan, North Carolina, & W. Virginia over some violations. However, they think the Miami one is so serious that it may result in the “death penalty”. The “death penalty” hasn’t happened since the early 80’s & it screwed up SMU for years. Usually, your typical probations does damage to your school for like 3 to 4 yrs, but the “death penalty” is no joke. W/ all these schools being investigated, they might as well be the Ivy League, where they take their education seriously.

Before I go, we found out that Terelle Pryor was elgilble for the supplement draft, but can’t play til week 8. Technically, he’s still blackballed by the NCAA & the NFL. Also, congrats to my niece Dejah Irving, who actually picked up her classes for her freshman r @ Whittier High. Everyone out there, enjoy a safe weekend & I see ya’ll next week ! Peace!!

Not again?

What’s going on out there in the social network world! I finally got a topic to discuss for this week’s blog. It’s somebody that I haven’t picked on a while since karma was biting me in the ass! It’s those USC Trojans & one of their players (Marc Tyler) made the news for the dumbest reasons. While hanging w/ his boys, he see paparazzi cameras around, which meant TMZ’s in the house. I guess he’s a big fan & want his 15 mins of fame, so he goes over to the camera crew. Then, someone out of the blue asks him “Do you get paid more @ SC or anywhere else”? I guess they didn’t know Marc was intoxicated because he joked around & said “SC, we stack paper”. Now, if TMZ wasn’t around, I think he wouldn’t been in trouble & wouldn’t be suspended for the season opener. The reason he got suspended in my opinion is because Haden & Kiflin are trying their best to wipe out anything that Reggie Bush left behind there & they don’t need the NCAA back on their ass since this is their final yr on probation.

However, this isn’t the 1st time Mr. Tyler has faced complaints over @ SC. He’s already had two public intoxicated incidents on his plate & this looks bad for him as a 5th yr senior. He was the team’s leading rusher last yr w/ 913 yrds & 9 tds. W/ him missing the Minnesota, game, Kiflin will have to go w/ running back by commitee w/ Dillion Baxter, D.J. Morgan, & Curtis McNeal competing for the starting tailback job. It probably wouldn’t matter since Kiflin was looking for a pass balanced offense around Matt Barkley. From now til whenever his suspension end, Tyler’s gonna have to do a lot of ass kissing. He should had took the quiet approach like his dad Wendell use to do. I mean, if TMZ can get a player suspended for joking on camera about something, then I wonder what they do to someone when college basketball returns.

That’s my time this week. By the end of the week, we’ll know if the NFL lockout is over (get on your job next NBA!!). A couple b-day shoutouts, one to Lisette Guzman (my class of 95 comrade) & Leticia Robinson (class of 98). Next week is big week for me as the Curry family arrives in LA LA land. Any feedback or opinions, you know what to do. Peace!!
