With the Saints struggling, could this be the end of the Sean Payton/ Drew Brees era?

With the Saints struggling, could this be the end of the Sean Payton/ Drew Brees era?

How is it going my NFL fans out there! 6 weeks so far & we still have 6 teams (New England, Denver, Carolina, Atlanta, Green Bay, & Cincinnati) still undefeated & the Lions sitll haven’t won a game yet. Last week, we saw Aaron Rodgers Lambeau interception less streak end, my Browns going into overtime to defeat the Ravens, the Bengals having to come back to defeat the Seahawks in the Jungle, Charles Woodson finally getting that interception on Peyton Manning in a loss, the Cowboys woes’ continue & Weeden getting benched after the bye week & both the Giants & Steelers having comeback wins in the primetime games. What will we get for week 6!! Before I start, prayers & get well to Lamar Odom. It sucks that his life unraveled soon as he left the Lakers. Get well my g.

Atlanta vs New Orleans- NFC South battle to start off the week The Falcons were in a dogfight last week at home vs the Redskins before their defense got a pick 6  to seal their win. Julio Jones is suffering from hamstring troubles, but he says he’ll be ready for Thursday. Devonta Franklin w/ another big game of 153 yds rushing & they got Tevin Coleman back. For the Saints, they thought the overtime win over the Cowboys would carry the momentum heading the rest of the way. However, they couldn’t hold the lead vs the Eagles & ended up losing in Philly. I bet these Sean Payton getting traded to another team w/ two years left on his contract are starting to be a distraction. Isn’t that tampering in the league’s book? They sitll have time to make a postseason push, but they don’t need any distraction right nouw. The Falcons are 3 pt road faves. I like the Falcons in a close game. If Julio can’t go, expect Hankerson & Roddy White to pick up the slack & Franklin still pound the rock.

Randy: New Orleans

Miami vs Tennessee- The Dolphins are coming off a bye week & they’l have a new coach since they fired Phibin. Tannerhill ripped his practice squad whenever they picked him off. I wonder what will his new routine would be if his actual receivers catch td passes from him. For the Titans, they had a tough home loss vs the Bills last week.  However, they are only 2.5 back of the Colts in the AFC South. Both teams are in most win mode right now. Titans are 2.5 home faves. I like the Dolphins to get their new coach off the right start w/ a win,

Randy: Tenn

Houston vs Jacksonville- AFC South battle & both teams are coming off losses. The Texans suffered a home loss vs the Andrew Luck-less Colts. Brian Hoyer relieved an injured Ryna Mallett & played a hell of a game before he threw a crucial int in crunch time. Deandre Thompkins balled out almost having a 200 yd receiving game, but Jalen Strong was getting the tds & Arian Foster almost suffered a concussion. For the Jags, a road loss to their in state rivals Bucs & they couldn’t get that Florida sweep since they defeated the Dolphins earlier this yr. Both have 1-4 identical records, looking up at Indy in the standings. It’s like a toss up for both teams. The Texans are 1.5 road faves. I like the Texans to win this game. If another loss happens, I wonder what J.J. Watt would do to take out his frustrations.

Randy: Jacksonville

Cincinnati vs Buffalo- The Bills get to host the Bengals this week, but they won’t have Tyrod Taylor behind center. He suffered a MCL injury in their win over the Titans last week. It’s bad enough for that team that their offense weapons (LeSean McCoy, Percy Harvin, Sammy Watkins, & Karlos Williams) haven’t had a great start so fear because of injuries. They probably wished they never made that Matt Cassell trade to the Cowboys. For the Bengals, they overcame a 24-7 defect in the 4th qtr to defeat the Seahawks ar home. Andy Dalton pretty much put the team on his back. Let’s see can he do that in the postseason, where he usually have his troubles. The Bengals are 3.5 road faves. I like the Bengals to win this game & take the over. Pray for EJ Manuel to not get hurt this game.

Randy: Cincy

Denver vs Cleveland- Both teams are coming off wins. The  Broncos defense pretty much had to carry the offense & Peyton Manning to their win in Oakland while Josh McCown had to go into the record to help my Brownies defeat the Ravens. He’s the 9th rated passer in the league, became the 1st Browns qb to throw over 300 yds in 3 straight game & his 457 yds last week is a team record, something Bernie, Otto Graham, or Brian Sipe. He’s getting help from Gary Barnidge & Duke Johnson is starting to become a pass catching threat out the backfield. Big game for the Browns. I hope their defense, which is ranked 30th can slow down Manning. The Broncos are 4 pt road faves. You already know who I’m rolling with. I can’t stand the Broncos because of John Elway, who ruined my childhood.

Randy: Denver

Chicago vs Detroit- The Bears are starting to come around after losing their 1st 3 games of the season. I was surprised that they came outa Arrowhead, which is very hostile with that crowd with a win. The defense is holding its own. It’s not like Urlacher or Singletary’s playing middle linebacker, but they are managing things. For the Lions, it’s getting rough. Still the only winless team left in the league & I’m starting to feel bad for Megatron (Calvin Johnson) & Matthew Stafford. NFC North rivalry, so expect a hard nose game. The Lions are fg home faves. I like the Bears to win to go into the bye week at .500.

Randy: Detroit

Washington vs NY Jets- The Redskinn want to shake off that loss in Atlanta- Their defense is hard nose & the offense was driving to take the lead until Cousins threw that pick 6. The Jets are coming off their bye week & will have Shelton Richardson back in their line-up, which will make that defense more nastier. it’s gonna come down to which qb (Fitzpatrick or Cousins) make the less mistakes. Jets are 6 pt home faves. I like the Jets to win & cover.

Randy: NYJ

Arizona vs Pittsburgh- Both teams are coming off wins. The Cards pretty much manhandled the Lions in their own house & feeling comfortable w/ a 2.5 lead over both the Rams & Seahawks in the NFC West. As long as Carson Palmer stays healthy, they’ll be a threat in the NFC. For the Steelers, they had the balls to call a run outta the Wildcat formation to win on a walk-off in San Diego. Tomlin had balls to call that play, which shocked me. Big Ben wanted to come back for this game because Bruce Arians, the Cards coach was his offensive coordinator & they are good friends. As long they have Bell & Martavis Bryant being reinstated helps them on the offense. Watch out when that offense starts to click. The Cards are fg road faves. I like the Cards to win & cover the spread.

Randy: Arizona

Kansas City vs Minnesota-The Chiefs are coming two things last week: A home loss to the Bears & the loss of Jamal Charles to an ACL injury. His season is done again. Knile Davis will have to carry the load from here on & be that safety valve whenever Travis Kelce is double team. For the Vikings, coming off the by week, so they are focused this week. It may come down to which quarterback could mange the game well (Alex Smith or Teddy Bridgewater). The Vikings are 4 pt home faves. I like the Vikings to win & cover

Randy: Minnesota

Carolina vs Seattle- A rematch of last yr.’s divisional playoff in which the Seahawks defeated the Panthers. Both teams are looking different so far this yr. The Panthers are still undefeated & coming off the bye week while the Seahawks are 2-3 & coming off blowing a 24-7 lead in Cincy!! The problem for the Seahawks is that offensive live, which can’t open up holes for Marshawn Lynch, whenever he’s healthy & can’t protect Russell Wilson. The Panthers & Cam Newton are doing things on offense w/o a big play wide receiver. Carolina has to keep winning to keep up w/ the Falcons, who is underrated as well in the NFC South. Seahawks are 6.5 home faves. I can see the Panthers winning in the Link by a fg.

Randy: Seattle

San Diego vs Green Bay- The Packers are still undefeated, but that win vs the Rams last week look ugly. Rodgers’ streak of no ints in Lambeau snapped as he threw 2 & the team had 4 turnovers. For the Chargers, Antonio Gates returned & it look like he didn’t miss a beat w/ Phillip Rivers, however the defense couldn’t stop Michael Vick & Leveon Bell on that last drive. I’m expecting some fantasy numbers from Rodgers & Rivers. Packers are 10 pt home faves. I like the Packers to win, but take the under.

Randy: Green Bay

Baltimore vs San Francisco- How funny that 3 yrs ago, this was the match-up in the Super Bowl! Look how things changed. Both teams are 1-4 , but only John Harbaugh is the only one still coaching the team as both teams had makeovers. The Ravens couldn’t stop Josh McCown as he threw for 457 yds & my Browns defeated them in ot. For the 49ers, they had a lead w/like 1:45 left in the game & Eli Manning pulled off some late game magic to defeat them. Bright spot for the 49ers was that Kaep kept those people calling for Gabbert to replace him off his back. Somebody has to win this game. Ravens are 2.5 road faves. I trust the 49ers to win a close one.

Randy: San Francisco

New England vs Indianapolis- The game of the week & perfect for primetime. Will Andrew Luck play? He’s listed as day to day, but Matt Hasselback has held the fort down in his absence. This was the game that Brady was suppose to return had that suspension never got overturned. The Pats treated the Cowboys like they were on their bye week. Instead of Gronk getting the love, it was Dion Lewis, who made the Cowboys linebackers his personal highlight film on his touchdown catch. For the Colts, Hasselback passed for over 300 yards, Gore scored a td & Andre Johnson had a great homecoming in H-Town in their win. The defense forced a crucial turnover at the right time. Expect a lil grudge because the last time these two teams played, it was the AFC title game & Deflategate started. The Pats are 7.5 road faves. I like the Pats to win & cover.

Randy: New England

NY Giants vs Philadelphia- A NFC East rivalry game to end the week & this division is wide open like a coke head’s nose. Both teams are coming off wins. The Eagles had to dig deep & drop 40 on them Saints while the Giants needed a Larry Donell miracle catch to defeat the 49ers. Both teams should be happy that the Cowboys are struggling like they are & hope that Cassell  continues the slump after the bye week. Like I said, it’s a wide open division & it’s up for grabs. Even the Redskins are still involved in the race. Eagles are 4 pt home faves. I like the Giants by a fg.

Randy: Philly

Last week, yours truly was the top dawn w/ a 11-3 showing. Noez came in 2nd w/ a 9-5 showing while Randy rounded it out w/a 7-7 finish. In the overll standing, I got a slight lead w/ 48-29 record, Randy’s slowing creeping up w/ the 46-31 record while Noez breaks even w/ a 38-38 showing. Happy belated b-day shootouts to Andrea Diaz, my aunt Debroah Dicks, & Vanessa Sanchez. Happy b-days this week to Mario Garcia, Erin Cardenas, Hector Guerrero, Wendy Villa, Joseph Martinez, Vivan Herrera, the homie Erik Rojas aka Deejay Stunna, Melissa Gene, my stepsister Ramona Grayson & Ms Pink Lady herself, Tracey Poole. Also, shootout to my WHS class of 95, who I’ll see this weekend as I deejay my 20 yr class reunion. Again, prayers to Lamar Odom & catch ya’ll on the next blog. Peace!!
