What a way to open up the season #ratings

It’s that time again people!! 32 teams fighting for the same goal: the Vince Lombardi trophy. Last time we had a meaningful game, it was the Super Bowl & people are still questioning Pete Carroll & that last call. You have the ball at the 1 yard line & instead of handing off to Lynch, you call a pass play, resulting in Malcolm Butler jumping the route & intercepting the ball. Instead of the Seahawks repeating as champs, we have the Pats as champs & Brady with that 4th ring. We’re not going bring up the offseason because it was dominated by Deflategate & the league taking til August to come down w/ a verdict. We all thought Brady was going to miss the 1st 4 games til he appealed & it went to court. It got reversed, resulting in Brady not missing any games & Goodell made looking like a fool. Forget about the controversy, let’s break down the action for the opening week!!

Pittsburgh vs New England- Perfect way to start off the week. The champs get to raise their banner & it will get that primetime ratings. It was going be ugly if Brady wasn’t start that game. The Steelers will be looking different this yr with Polamalu’s retirement & no more Dick LeBeau calling the defense. They also won’t have Levon Bell for the 1st 2 games after being suspended for off-field arrest , no Martavis Bryant for 4 games & Maurice Pouncey on short term i.r.  Pats won’t have Legarrette Blount for this game since he’s suspended & Brandon Lafell, who’s on the PUP list. Expect a close game here. Pats are a td home fave. I like the champs to win & cover the spread.

Randy: New England

Green Bay vs Chicago- NFC North rivals to start off the week in Chi-town. The Packers were major faves to rep the NFC in the Super Bowl until Jordy Nelson tore his ACL in the preseason. They brought back James Jones to fill that void. In my opinion, they had Seattle beaten in their own crib until some luck & fate got them. For the Bears, new coach in John Fox, however they traded Brandon Marshall to the Jets for a 7th round pick. Coach McCarthy already giving the Bears bulletin board saying the Pack’s going kick their ass. Rivalry game, so anything can happen. Packers are 6.5 road faves. I like the Packers & cover the spread.

Randy: GB

Kansas City vs Houston- The team on Hard Knocks this yr is everyone’s sexy pick to make the posteason. When you have the ultimate superstar on defense in JJ Watt & surround him w/ Jadeveon Clowney, Brian Cushing, & Vince Wilfolk, don’t expect to score a lot. The offense may be the only question mark on the squad. You upgrade the quarterback position in Brian Hoyer, but Arian Foster’s hurt again & you might not have him til week 2 or week 9. Also, your all-time receiver in Andre Johnson’s on the divisional rival Colts. For the Chiefs, yr 3 of the Andy Reid era & they added Jeremy Maclin to fill the void of Dwayne Bowe leaving for free agency & addressing the fact that no Chiefs receiver caught a td pass last yr. They also bring back last yr.’s leading sacker in Justin Houston. Expect a low scoring game. Texans are a pt home fave. It’s a pick ’em game, but for some reason, I like the Chiefs to steal this game in H-Town. I trust Alex Smith over Brian Hoyer.

Randy: Houston

Cleveland vs N.Y. Jets- Some people are already calling this game the “Toilet Bowl” & it’s week 1. Both teams have great defenses, but haven’t address the situation for the quarterback position. The Browns are starting Josh McCown w/ Johnny Manziel having shoulder trouble while Ryan Fitzpatrick is behind center for the Jets thanks to ex teammate IK Enemkpali breaking Geno Smith’s jaw over a $600 plane ticket. Both teams off season issues are a joke. The Browns having their o-line coach suspended indefinitely for alleged assault of a female at his home, traded Terrance West for nothing, meaning they have only one healthy running back in Isaiah Crowell & already having some of the fan base to tank this season in order to draft Cardale Jones & that pisses me off. For the Jets, besides the Geno Smith stuff, they had Wilkerson’s crazy escapade w/ speeding in the car w/ his kid in it & might have drugs on him. Bright spots for them were drafting Leonard Williams from USC & trading for Brandon Marshall. It may come down to qb play & who scores a td. Jets are fg home faves. I like my Browns to win & cover the spread.

Indianapolis vs Buffalo- The Colts are highly regard to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. Yr 3 of the Andrew Luck era & they added him some weapons in Andre Johnson & Frank Gore to go along w/ T.Y Hilton. For the Bills, Rex Ryan takes over & they traded Kiki Alonso to acquire Lesean McCoy, but he might not be ready for this game. It’s bad enough they traded his back-up Fred Jackson to the Seahawks. I hope he’s making the right decision in making Tyron Taylor the starting qb. I know Rex will make that defense nasty, but the offense is the question. If he thinks the offense can go toe to toe w/ Luck & them boys, think again. Colts are 2.5 road faves. I like the Cotls & take the over.

Randy: Ind

Miami vs Washington- Of all the AFC East teams besides the Pats who don’t have any qb travel, Ryan Tannerhill was going be the only returning starter for that division til Brady’s case was reversed. The Dolphins were still in the playoff hunt til the final week last yr & they have all the tools to improve this yr. Tannerhill’s improving & that defense is legit. For the Redskins, that organization is a joke. From Daniel Snyder being greedy about not changing the team’s name all the way to the way they treat RGIII. The coaching staff don’t want him around, but don’t have the balls to say. I wonder how Kirk Cousins is going to fair out as starter. Dolphins are 3.5 road faves. I like the Fins to win & take the over.

Randy: Mia

Carolina vs Jacksonville- The Panthers will try to 3 peat as NFC South champs this yr & they are facing a young Jags team in this opening game. Cam Newton will have to go w/o Kelvin Benjamin, who got hurt in the preseason & Jonathan Stewart is the new featured back since Deangelo Williams took his talents to Pittsburgh. For the Jags, year 2 of the Blake Bortles experiment & that defense is steady improving. Still need a few more pieces to make noise. The Panthers are fg road fave. I like the Panthers to win & cover the spread

Randy: Jacksonville

Seattle vs St.Louis- NFC West rivals going heads up. The Seahawks are trying to take that Super Bowl bad taste out of their mouth. Their offense consisted of Marshawn Lynch & Russell Wilson getting paid, trading for Jimmy Graham & Kam Chancellor holding out. Like he said, they couldn’t pay everyone. For the Rams, they traded Sam Bradford to the Eagles for Nick Foles & drafted Todd Gurley, however he’s going be missing some games. That means Zac Stacy, who wanted to be traded after they got Gurley, will be sharing time w/ Tre Mason. Both teams are defensive minded, so expect a dog fight. Seahawks are 4 pt road faves. I like the Seahawks to win & take the under.

Randy: Seattle

New Orleans vs Arizona- The Cards got their guy back in Carson Palmer, because they were miserable to watch offensively after he got hurt. Defensive wise, they lost Darnell Dockett, but it don’t matter to them. For the Saints, they missed out on the postseason by one game & want to redeem themselves. They won’t have Jimmy Graham for Brees to throw to in the red zone, so expect a lot of Colston or his replacement. This game should set the tone for both team, especially the Saints because they have a hard time winning on the road. The Cards are 2.5 home faves. I like the Cards by a fg. I trust their home field advantage

Randy: Arizona

Detroit vs San Diego- A game of aerial adventures!! Matthew Stafford along w/ Calvin Johnson & Golden Tate vs Phillip Rivers and his crew. The Chargers drafted Melvin Gordon to replace the oft injured Ryan Matthews while the Lions had to figure out how to replace Suh & they did by signing Haloti Ngata. They also want to forget about that playoff loss to the Cowboys where they were cheated by the officials. Hot day in San Diego & this could be the farewell tour of the Chargers in Diego since their least is up at Quacolm, The Chargers are 2.5 home faves. I have the Lions spoiling the home opener & winning by a td.

Randy: SD

Tennessee vs Tampa Bay- Mariotta vs Winston. The only reason to watch this game. They were the top 2 picks in last yr.’s draft. Both teams aren’t play-off ready as they need more pieces to compete. However, Lovie Smith always keep a defense around. The Bucs are fg home faves. I like the Bucs to win & cover the spread.

Randy: Tenn

Baltimore vs Denver- The last 2 AFC champs before the Pats last year meet up in this great contest. The Broncos made some changes by firing John Fox & replacing him w/ Gary Kubiak, who used to be Elway’s back-up during his playing days. They want to focus more on running the ball because they don’t Peyton airing the ball that much this yr. The Ravens are still the Ravens. You can never count them out, however this is Steve Smith’s farewell tour, so expect any Broncos cornerback to ‘ice up” after a long day of taking him. The Broncos are 4.5 home faves. I like the Ravens to get the road win because they got the bodies to do it.

Randy: Denver

Cincinnati vs Oakland- Very interesting contest here. The Bengals have made the postseason the last 4 yrs in the Andy Dalton era & have yet won a playoff game. I know Marvin Lewis will be on the hot seat this yr. For the Raiders, even though I have been dogging them throughout the yrs, they finally putting some pieces together to have a squad. Young linebacker in Khalil Mack & drafting Amari Cooper to go along w/ Derek Carr got them going. The Bengals are 3.5 road faves. For some reason, I like the Raiders to win & cover the spread

Randy: Cincy

N.Y. Giants vs Dallas- Another divisional match-up, but this time under the lights. The Cowboys are up there w/ the other echelon teams to rep the NFC  in the Super Bowl. They brought everyone back, except Demarco Murrary, who decided to stay in division & signed w/ Philly. Only problem they have is their secondary, which is banged up. For the G-Men, interesting off-season for them. Signing Shane Vereen, Odell Beckham getting the cover of Madden, the return of Victor Cruz & of course, JPP blowing off his fingers in his contract yr.He says he’ll be back, but I’m shaking my head about this one. Cowboys are 6 its home faves. I like the Cowboys to win & cover. Not saying this because I have to deejay for the SCDCFC on Sunday night (happy about this one Letty! your time of the yr)

Randy: Dallas

Philadelphia vs Atlanta- The high powered Eagles offense will get a chance to show their new weapons in the 1st game of the MNF doubleheader. No more Lesean McCoy, now it’s Demarco Murrary along w/ Ryan Matthews in the backfield & Sam Bradford is the man behind center. interesting that they traded Matt Barkely & cut Tim Tebow, knowing they need someone to back up both Bradford & Mark Sanchez. For the Falcons, new coach, new offensive coordinator, but same offensive weapons. Both teams last yr had the worst secondary stats. Something has to give this yr. Eagles are 2.5 road faves. I like the Eagles by a td

Randy: Philly

Minnesota vs San Francisco- The final game of the week & both teams have something to prove. For the Vikes, Adrian Peterson returns from his year long suspension & he will fit perfectly well w/ Teddy Bridgewater, ready for his 2nd yr. For the 49ers, crazy offseason for them. Lost 9 players on defense, 3 players (Patrick Willis, Staley, & Borland) retired, Aldon Smith gets released after another arrest & Harbaugh resigns. New coach & new players fills this role. It’ll be an interesting yr in the Bay this yr. Vikes are 2.5 road faves. I got the 49ers winning the debut for the new coach.

Randy: Minn

That’s my time people. Once again, me & Randy will be competing in the pickems & I’ll be very busy w/ 3 fantasy leagues I’m in. Happy b-day shoutouts to Lorena Hernandez, my boy Raul Caracoza aka Boogie, Andy Clark, Janis Ortega, Lea Reck, Marcus Gil-Lopez, Robert Duran, Wardell Jasper, Eugene Hidalgo, Leslie Ward & Mark Redman. Nothing to say bout the fight on saturday. Catch ya’ll next blog!! Peace
