It’s here ladies & gentleman. The real season. For 17 weeks, we have 32 teams (16 from the AFC & 16 from the NFC) compete to fill out 12 spots for the playoffs. We finally have the 12 teams (6 from each conference) set. For the next 3 weeks, they will be competing in single game eliminations to reach the pinnacle that they call the Super Bowl. Last week, we had four division clinched as well as the final wild card spot & it was a crazy Black Monday as 4 coaches & 2 general managers got the pink slip & Jim Harbaugh the only coach getting rehired but by his alma mater Michigan. I wonder how will wild card weekend will play out. Let’s break down these games.

Arizona vs Carolina- The Cards are in the same predicament the Saints were in 4 yrs when they had a better record than their opponent, but had to go on the road since the Panthers won the division & they had an under .500 record. The Cards fell victim to the “win 1 for the departing coach” last week as the 49ers sent their coach out a winner. For the Panthers, their defense pretty much handled the Falcons & it was so bad that Mike Smith lost his job. Both teams are defensive minded, so expect a low scoring game. The Panthers are 6.5 home faves. I like the Panthers to win & take the under. I trust Cam Newton before I trust Drew Stanton or Ryan Lindley.

Baltimore vs Pittsburgh- The heated rivalry of the AFC North resumes in this wild card match-up. The Ravens needed help along w/ them winning to clinch the final wild card spot. For the Steelers, they are clicking on the right cylinders & they clinched the AFC North w/ a win over Cincy, but at a cost. Leveon Bell suffered a hyperextended right knee & his availability is in question. They signed Ben Tate for precautionary purposes. This has the sounds of a drag out fight here. The Steelers are a fg home fave. I like the Steelers to win & cover.

Cincinnati vs Indianapolis- The Colts get to host another wild card game for the 3rd yr in a row in the Andrew Luck era. They handled their business by defeating the Titans to carry momentum going into this game. For the Bengals, they blew an opportunity to clinch the division by losing to the Steelers & A.J Green’s been banged up the last 2 games. Since this is the playoffs, every time that the Bengals made the playoffs w/ both Green & Andy Dalton, they always lost the wild card game. The Colts are fg home faves. I like the Colts to win & take the over.

Detroit vs Dallas- The game that I’m focused on this weekend. The Cowboys are coming in on a hot streak & the new Big 3 of Romo, Murrary , & Bryant are clicking on all cylinders, The defense has held their own as well. For the Lions, coming off the loss, but gained a victory w/ Ndamukong Suh winning his appeal of suspension & will be active to play this game. BTW, I wonder who will buy his excuse of “It was cold & I couldn’t feel my feet”. Last time these teams met in the playoffs, it was in 91 & the Lions won the game in the Silverdome. Both Barry Sanders & Emmit Smith was in this game. It’s a new breed now. I can’t wait to see the numbers for both Dez Bryant & Calvin Johnson. The Cowboys are 6.5 home faves. I like the Cowboys to win & cover the spread.

Last week, yours truly & Randy were tied for the top spot w/ a 12-4 showing. In the overall standings, I have a short lead over Randy w/a 170-90-1 record while Randy has a 168-92-1 showing. Happy belated b-day to Lebron James. B-day shootouts to my cousin Thomas Clarkson V, Alfred Macias, Jimmie Cummings, Chris ‘C-Walk” Walker, Fernando Alvarez, Natalie Guzman, & Brittney Lynn. My Buckeyes road to Dallas starts tomorrow. Make sure you check out “Campaign Life” w/ his ‘Hood Picks” on Happy Fun Time Sports w/ Kevin & Melissa. also follow Screws U on ITunes. Hope everyone has a safe New Yr’s & check ya’ll on the next blog. Peace!!
