Bombs away on thursday (Manning & Rivers) #fantasypts

What an amazing week 7 we saw!! We’re at the halfway point of the season & we have some teams separating themselves from the pretenders’ list to the contenders’ list. Last week, we saw Percy Harvin get traded to the Jets, the Jags get their 1st win at the expense of my Browns, Saints still having trouble winning outside the Superdome, the Chiefs going into San Diego & getting the win, DeMarco Murrary w/ his 7th straight 100 yd game, breaking Jim Brown’s record & gong to 5-1 w/ a win, Peyton Manning surpassing Favre’s td record in their win & the Texans losing their 3rd straight after starting 2-0. I wonder what’s in store for this week. Let’s preview these games.

Thursday

San Diego vs Denver- AFC West battle here. The Broncos are riding high after their performance over the Niners. Peyton was breaking records, having fun w/ his receivers playing “keep away” after he broke the record. Hell, even Ronnie Hillman got into the party scoring a td which had Uncle Snoop (happy belated c-day btw) hyped up. For the Chargers, tough home loss vs the Chiefs. I wouldn’t call it a trap game because it was another divisional rival & they were having a short week in the process. Expect a lot of hard hitting in this game. Broncos are 9 pt home faves. I like the Broncos to win & take the slight under. That’s too high of a spread.

Randy:

Sunday

Detroit vs Atlanta- Early game here because it’s in London. The Lions had to come back to defeat the Saints & are still finding ways to win games w/o Calvin Johnson & Reggie Bush didn’t play last week. Their defense is top ranked & they deserve the credit. For the Falcons, another loss, this time to the Ravens & their defense is near the bottom of the rankings. I think Coach Smith’s on the hot seat. Lions are 2.5 faves. I like the Lions by a fg.

Randy:

Minnesota vs Tampa Bay- Back in the days, this use to be a NFC Central battle. Now thanks to realignment, it’s just a regular match-up. Both teams are near the bottom of their respective divisions. Bucs are coming off their bye week while the Vikings had victory snatched outta their grips by the Bills. It may come down to which qb (Bridgewater or Glennon) makes the less mistakes. Tampa’s are 2.5 home fave. For some reason, I like the Vikes to win this game on the road.

Randy:

Houston vs Tennessee- AFC South battle here. The Texans are coming off a letdown performance on Monday vs the Steelers. How do you give up 21 unanswered pts in a 1:31 span in the 2nd qt. Other than JJ Watt stealing the spotlight, why isn’t anyone showing Arian Foster some love? He’s the 2nd best running back in the league behind DeMarco Murrary. For the Titans, tough road loss to the Skins, but they made a move by trading Akeem Ayers to the Pats for a 6th round pick. Ayers had been struggling this yr after having underwent 2 separate knee operations in the offseason. Pretty much, he was banged up. The Texans are a pt road fave. The Texans need to snap out this losing streak. I like the Texans by a td.

Randy:

Chicago vs New England- The Bears are in a disarray. They haven’t won a game yet in Soldier Field & after their loss last week to the Dolphins, there was some rumblings that players were pointing fingers at one another & Brandon Marshall calling out Jay Cutler. For the Pats, a close home win over the Jets. They picked Ayers from Tennessee to insure some lb help since Mayo’s out for the yr. It’s almost like home stretch for them. Pats are 6.5 home fave. I like the Pats by a td.

Randy:

Buffalo vs NY Jets- Percy Harvin makes his Jets debut this week. The Jets hope this trade turns things around & gives Geno Smith another weapon to use other than Decker & Kerley, who just got a 4 yr extension this week. They are comng off a close loss to the Patriots & Geno looked good that game. For the Bills, nice comeback win over the Vikings & Sammy Watkins is coming along strong as of late. I guess benching EJ Manuel for Kyle Orton was the right move for them, even though I feel bad for him losing his job. He hit the sophomore slump early this yr. Divisional battle here, so expect a lot of hard hitting. Jets are fg home faves. I like the Bills to win & cover.

Randy:

Seattle vs Carolina- The Seahawks are on a 2 game losing streak, which is rare for them these days. They were out performed & tricked out by the Rams last week. It was bad enough that you traded the homerun hitter for draft picks & people are wondering why they did it. To me, I think they did it to free up money for Russell Wilson when his contract ends after this yr. For the Panthers, they were bitch-slapped in Green Bay & Kuechly was wrongfully ejected. However , with the way the Saints are struggling, they can still be the 1st team in sometime to repeat as NFC South champs. It’s gonna be a defensive battle. Seahawks are 4.5 road faves. I see the Panthers winning by a td.

Randy:

Baltimore vs Cincinnati- AFC North battle here. The Bengals are coming off a loss to Indy & haven’t been the same since the bye week. If you don’t believe, just ask A.J Green, He said they have fallen in the dumps. It’s bad enough he hasn’t been available in some these game. For the Ravens, they are on a roll. They demolished the Falcons & are leading the AFC North. Expect a lot of hard hitting. Bengals are a pt home fave. I like the Bengals to shake their funk & win a close game at home.

Randy:

Miami vs Jacksonville- The Battle of Florida here. Both teams are coming off wins. The Dolphins shook off that close home loss to the Packers by going into Chicago & defeated the Bears. The Jags were hungry to defeat my Browns for their 1st win. Despite Bortles throwing 3 ints, the running game (pretty much Denard Robinson) & the defense did their thang. It may come down to qb play (Bortles vs Tannerhill). Dolphins are 5.5 road faves. I like the Dolphins to win & take the slight under.

Randy:

St. Louis vs Kansas City- The battle of Missouri here. Both teams are coming off impressive wins over divisional rivals. The Rams pulled off the major upset by defeating the Seahawks at home & Jeff Fisher had major balls pulling off two trick plays at Pete Carroll’s expense. Now you got Brett Favre saying Austin Davis could be the next Drew Brees. He plays like him sometime. For the Chiefs, they went into San Diego & defeated a hot Chargers team. They are 3-3, still technically in the postseason race. But need either the Chargers or Broncos to fall ball. It’s already crazy enough in Kansas City w/ the Royals in the World Series. Let’s see if some of that momentum rubs off on the football team. Cheifs are 6.5 home faves. I like the Chiefs by a td.

Randy:

Philadelphia vs Arizona- Both teams are 5-1 heading into this game. The Eagles are coming off the bye week & hope they have Darren Sproles this game. He had a groin injury in the win over the Giants 2 weeks ago, however w/ the bye week, he’s probably improved. For the Cardinals, they defeated the Raiders & out of the 5 wins they have, they had 3 different starting qbs. Larry Fitzgerald has been rejuvenated ever since Palmer returned. It’s going be in Arizona, so expect some Eagles fan to make that trip & try to compete w/ those Cardinals fans. Cardinals are 2.5 home faves. Arizona’s undefeated at home, but I think the Eagles could take the win on the road.

Randy:

Oakland vs Cleveland- Both teams are coming off losses, but I’m more pissed bout my Browns loss. This was suppose to be the easiest of the next 3 games before they faced Cincy. The Jags, Raiders, & Bucs had a combined 1-19 heading into last Sunday, however the winless Jags had to ruin the plans of being 6-2 heading into Cincy. Hoyer struggled, the team couldn’t run the ball, penalties, & turnovers were the demise. For the Raiders, still winless & it was so bad that Darell Dockett trolled w/ the 0-6, Worst team in NFL on the board. Late game in the LAND means more rest for the Browns. Browns are td home fave. I like the Browns to shake off the Jags loss w/ a win & cover the spread.

Randy:

Indianapolis vs Pittsburgh- A decent challenge for Luck & the Colts. The Colts already defeated one AFC North team in the Bengals last week at home, now they have to go into Pittsburgh to face the Steelers. The Steelers are coming off a home win over the Texans, who had them nervous for almost the 1st half until they scored 21 unanswered pts in 1:37 span in the 2nd qtr. The Steelers faithful was booing them before that. They are like Dr Jekyll & Mr. Hyde to me. Pre main event for Sunday. Indy’s a 2.5 road fave. I like the Colts to get the road win by a fg.

Randy:

Green Bay vs New Orleans- NBC’s game of the week. If the Saints had a better record other than 2-4, it would be the game of the week. The Packers have rolled off 4 straight win, including a beatdown on the Panthers last week in Lambeau. Aaron Rodgers aka the Bad Man (gotta give Stephen A Smith credit for that nickname) has gotten his swagger right after telling the fans to relax. I wish Eddie Lacy can help him out a lil. For the Saints, they are a different breed when they aren’t in the Superdome.. I give Brees props in the postgame conference after the loss last week saying it was my fault that we loss. He threw a critical int. This may be a shootout here. Saints are a pt home fave. I like the Packers to win this game on the road.

Randy:

Monday

Washington vs Dallas- Bitter NFC East rivals to end the week. The Cowboys are at 5-1 & DeMarco Murrary is making a claim to be the league’s MVP so far. He could reached 1,000 by next week. The line is blocking & the defense has surprised everyone. The Redskins are coming off a win over the Titans. In that win, Cousins was benched for struggling & was replaced by Colt McCoy, who’s gonna get the start for this game, even though we’re hearing reports that RG III was taking snaps w/ the 1st team offense. Jay Gruden did promise Griffin he’ll start again if he’s healthy again. Like they say, you can’t lose your starting jiob due to injury, but then again look what happened to Drew Bledsoe & Alex Smith when they got hurt. Plus, the Redskins qb situation is a mess. What kind of game will we get this week. Cowboys are 9.5 home faves. I see the Cowboys winning & take the over (smile proudly Letty)

Last week, yours truly went 9-6 last week while Randy went 7-8. I also got back in the winning column in fantasy football & now I have to face Mega 7981 in the rematch of week 1 when he destroyed me. Happy belated b-day shoutouts to Jennifer Docks, Robert Change, Maribel Sandoval, Melaine Godinez, & Dee Jay Volotyl. Happy b-day this week to Adam Sol, Cindy Silva, cuzzo Jerome Spann (make sure you check out In the Cage on IHeart radio), Claudia Hernandez, Julia Gonzales, cuzzo Lachelle Reynolyds, Joseph Anderson, Marcy Onsurez, Amber Vera, Abdey Bebe, Brian Good, Javon Liu, Fida Amid Alyn, & Jason “Skinny” Ramirez. Make sure you check out da homie Screws’ blog at Screws U on Soundcloud. The World Series has started ( go Royals) & next week, the NBA starts. So anxious. I’ll check ya’ll next week w/ the next blog. Peace
