Can the 49ers snatch up homefield from Seattle? We’ll find out after Sunday

It’s here people! We have reached the final week of the regular season. It’s been a fun season w/ records broken & amazing regular season performances. We are at the point with one remaining spot to be clinched in the AFC & NFC as well as divison titles to be clinched in the NFC. Last week, we saw the Lions get eliminated from the postseason after leading the division w/ 5 weeks left, Tony Romo leading the Cowboys to a comeback win in DC & having a hernintated disk in the process, the Cards going into the 12th man in Seattle & defeating the Seahwaks, & the 49ers adding more memories in their final game at Candlestick Park. I wonder what moments will we have in week 17. Before I start, I hope everyone had a safe X-mas & got everything they want. I know I got a great gift on Monday when I won my fantasy league title. I gotta pat myself on the back for that one. Let’s break down the final week.

Carolina vs Atlanta- The Panthers are coming off clinching off a playoff spot after an amazing 4th qtr drive by Cam Newton to defeat the Saints in the rematch. Props to Roon Rivera for trusting his defense w/ that stop w/ all their timeouts & the 2 min warning. They still have hope for the NFC South should they win this game. For the Falcolns, they gave the Niners a scare in that final game in Candlestick & they have nothing to be ashamed of. The storyline for them in this game is that it’s the final game for Tony Gonzalez. It sucks that he has no postseason trip after this, but he’s a sure 1st ballot hall of famer.  Expect not a dry tear from Gonzalez during pregame ceremonies. The Panthers are 5.5 road faves. I like the Panthers in a close game & take the under.

Randy: Carolina

Baltimore vs Cincinnati- This game is big for both teams. The Bengals already clinched the AFC North, but they can clinch a 1st round bye w/ a win & a Patriots loss. The Bengals are coming off a win over the Vikings. For the Ravens, they pretty nuch need to win & have either the Dolphins or Chargers lose their game. They didn’t look good in their loss at home vs the Pats. The Bengals are 6 pt home faves. I hope Marvin’s not resting his players because I know they would want that 1st round bye. I like the Bengals to win & cover.

Randy: Cincy

Jacksonville vs Indianapolis- The Colts already have clinched their division, but they can still clinch a 1st round bye w/ a win & losses by Cincy & New England. If not, they’ll probably face the Chiefs again & they just defeated them last week. The Jags are playing for pride & finishing out the season. The Colts are 11.5 home faves. I like the Colts to win & the under since they may be resting players for the postseason.

Randy: Indy

N.Y. Jets vs Miami- The Dolphins currently control the 6th seed, which means all they have to do is win & hope the Ravens lose. They laid an egg last week in Buffalo & hope they don’t do it again at home this week. For the Jets, coming off a win vs my Browns, they’re hoping to win so they can finish w/ a .500 record at 8-8 & ensures that Rex Ryan still keeps his job.

The Fins are 5.5 home faves. Big game in South Beach & I see the Dolphins coming out on top w/ a close one.

Randy: Miami

Detroit vs Minnesota- The Lions are shaking themselves in the head. They were in the driver’s seat for the NFC North title w/ 3 weeks left & found a way to blow it & get eliminated from the postseason as well. Matthew Strafford’s indecisions has hurt them & it looks like it cost Schwartz his job. For the Vikings, they’re playing for pride. Vikings are fg home faves. I like the Lions to win to finish at .500.

Randy: Minnesota

Washington vs N.Y. Giants- A meaningless game here in the NFC East. Both teams are eliminated from postseason & are heading into the off-season w/ turmoil. The Skins don’t know if Shanahn’s going coach them next yr & his relationship w/ RGIII is a mystery. The Giants probably are gonna hear those “Fire Coughlin” rumors in the offseason, but he’s heard them the last 4 yrs, yet he’s won them 2 Lombardi trophies. The G-Man are 4.5 home faves. I like the Giants to send the home fans out w/ a bang w/ a win..

Randy: NYG

Cleveland vs Pittsburgh- Round 2 of my childhood rivalry. Steelers won the 1st battle in Cleveland. The Steelers are coming off a close win in Green Bay & still have hopes for that wild card spot, but need the teams ahead of them to lose. For my Browns, just wanting to finish the season & I didn’t like their performance last week vs the Jets. A lot of questions to be asked in the offseason, but I know one thing & that’s Weeden’s not the guy. The Steelers are a td home faves. You already know where I’m going w/ this. I want my Browns to play spoiler to the Wack & Yellow.

Randy: Pittsburgh

Houston vs Tennessee- Meaningless game here.. The Titans are coming off a win over Jacksonville . Chris Johnson, you must be out of your damn mind saying you won’t take a pay cut to stay in Tennessee. That’s selfish & you’re their star player. The Texans just want the season to end so they can start their search for a new coach. The Texans probably going to have the top pick in the draft. Titans are a td home fave. I like the Titans to win & cover & expect CJ2K to hear some boos.

Randy: Tennessee

San Francisco vs Arizona- The 49ers clinched a playoff spot after their dramatic win over the Falcons in the farewell game at Candlestick Park. They still have hopes for the NFC West & homefield advantage w/ a win & a Seahawks’ loss. The Cards have swagger after going into Seattle & defeating the Seahawks. They still have hopes to clinch the final playoff spot w/ a win & the Saints losing. It’ll be weird if the Cards have double digit wins & still won’t make the playoffs. The Cards are 1.5 home faves. Both teams have something at stake. I like the 49ers in a close game here.

Randy; San Francisco

Green Bay Vs Chicago- In the words of Stephen A Smith, the “Bad man” is back. Aaron Rodgers will start this game. He hasn’t played since he suffered a collarbone injury in the 1st match-up vs the Bears. They are coming off a home loss vs the Steelers & silly playcalling by McCarthy cost them the game. For the Bears, they wouldn’t be in this situation if they just beat Philly last week. Everything was gift wrapped to them last week w/ evevryone in the division losing.. It was meant to be that the Bears/Packers finale would decide the NFC North winner. The Bears are a td home fave. I like the Packers to go into Soldier Field & get the win.

Randy: Chicago

Buffalo vs New England- The Pats have momentum going into the playoffs & they can clinch homefield throughout w/ a win & a Broncos’ loss. They were on all cylinders in New England. For the Bills, just want to finish the season strong. They spoiled the Dolphins’ hope of clinching a wild card spot last week. I can see Belechik resting his players like in the 2nd half. The Pats are 9 pt home faves. I like the Pats by a td.

Randy: New England

Tampa Bay vs New Orleans- The Saints are coming off a heartbreaking loss in Carolina, but can still win the NFC South w/ a win & Panthers loss. The Bucs are just finishing out the season. Their play has come on strong after their slow start. The Saints are 12.5 home faves. I see the Siants winning big just to have momentum going into the postseason.

Randy: New Orleans

Denver vs Oakland- The Broncos, like the Pats have momentum going into the postseason. The Broncos control their own destiny for homefield & all they have to do is just win. The Raiders probably just want to play spoiler for that. They already made controversy for this game by starting Pryor & his agent saying they’re setting him up to fail. It’s also probably Darren McFadden’s final game as a Raider. The Broncos are 12 pt road faves. I like the Broncos by a td because they’re gonna be resting players for the playoffs.

Randy: Denver

Kansas City vs Denver- The Chiefs already know they’re a wild card team, but they won’t know who they’ll face because the Bengals & Pats are competing for that 2nd seed. The Chargers still have haope for the final wild card spot, but need to win & hope that Baltimore and Miami loses.  A lot of sceneraios here. Andy might rest his players here. The Chargers are 9.5 home faves. I originally had the Chiefs to win, but since they may be resting players since they’ll have to play a game next week, I changed it to the Chargers.

Randy; San Diego

St Louis vs Seattle- The Seahawks are coming off a weird home loss to the Cards.  They still control their destiny for homefield  throughout the NFC playoffs w/ a win. The Rams are coming off a home win vs Tampa Bay & hoping to finish strong w/ a win. They are giving hopes to the fans in St Louis. The Seahawks are 10.5 home faves. The Rams almost beat them in St Louis earlier this yr & the Seahawks are showing signs of vulnerability. I like the Rams to pull the upset like Arizona did last week.

Randy; Seattle

Philadelphia vs Dallas- The final game of the regular season & it’s huge. The winner of the game wins the NFC East! The Eagles looked impressive after putting 50 on the Bears last week. The Cowboys are coming into this game w/ questions. Is Tony Romo gonna play? It was reported that he was done for the yr after suffering a herninated disk, but his coach & teammates are saying don’t count him out this game. They signed Jon Kitna to back up Kyle Orton if Romo can’t go. I know who else is nervous bout this game & it’s Jason Garrett. He’s sounding like Jerry jones gonna fire him if he loses this game. NBC’s gonna get their ratings for this game. The Eagles are 6.5 road faves. I like the Eagles by 10. For my buddy Leticia Rodriguez, no need to say my favorite saying.

Randy: Philadelphia

Last week, yours truly and Randy were tied for the top spot w/ a 9-7 finish with Noez rounding out w/ a 6-10. For the bonus from Mega7981, it looks like Randy’s got it locked w/a 151-88 record while I’m behind him w/ a 143-96 & Noeez rounds out w/ 135-102. Happy belated b-day to my girl Jennifer Fernandez. Happy b-days to Xochitl Huerta, Karen La Mere, my cousin Veronica Clarkson, Michelle Amy Carlos, Monica Silva aka Monitone, Michael Gil & A.C. Carter. I hope everyone out have a safe & prosperous New Yr’s. I’ll catch eeveryone next yr & next week w/ a blog for wild card weekend. Peace!!
