Can the Pats win w/o Gronk? the next 3 weeks will tell

3 more weeks remaining & we are heading down the stretch. The Colts & Broncos have already clinched their divisions.  However, we still have some tight division race as well as the wild card races. Last week, we saw a record 104 tds scored, the Pats w/ a dramatic comeback win, but paid a price as Gronk tore his ACL, 4 games that were affected by snow & the Steelers & the sidelines made a return visit, this time it was on the final play of the game. I wonder what we have in store for this week.  It starts on Thursday.  Let’s break down the games.

Thursday

San Diego vs Denver- The Broncos are coming off a home win vs a Titans team that they were trailing from the beginning. A lot of talk was about Peyton Manning & his struggles w/ cold weather. He responded w/ 4 td passes & Prater kicks a record 64 yd fg before the half.. The Chargers are coming off a dominating home win over the Giants & in the process, eliminating them from postseason. The Chargers still have hope, but needs help. I wonder how the weather’s going be that night in primetime. Broncos won the 1st match-up in San Diego, so they’re looking for the sweep. They’re also playing for homefield throughout the AFC playoffs.  Broncos are 10 pt home faves. I like the Broncos to win & take the under.

Sunday

Washington vs Atlanta- 2 teams that has nothing to play for meet up in the Georgia Dome. The Falcons are on a 2 game winning streak & looking to win out to send out Tony Gonzalez on a high note. For the Skins, another loss & it looks like Daniel Snyder’s trying to find a way to fire Shanahan w/o paying out his contract. I wish they would shut down RG III & let Cousins finish out the season, but some people might say that would be disrespectful to him. I wouldn’t say that. Falcons are 6 pt home faves. I like the Falcons by 10. Also, Roddy White’s play has been big of late.

San Francisco vs Tampa Bay- Kaepernick got the monkey off his back as he lead a last minute drive to defeat the Seahawks in Candlestick Park. It evened up the series, but rhe Seahawks still have a 2 game edge on them in the NFC West. For the Bucaneers, they spanked the Bills at home & have won 3 out their last 5 games after starting off 0-9. The Bucs are playing for pride while the Niners are playing for playoff postioning as well as clinching one of the wild card berths. It’s going be a rough game for them since they are traveling from Northern California to Florida. The 49ers are a fg road fave. I like the Niners to win & the points.

Seattle vs N.Y. Giants- The Seahawks looking to erase that road loss to the Niners. It was a close game like people would’ve expected. Wilson & the guys played their hearts out, but the Niners wanted it more. For the Giants, their loss in San Diego eliminated them from postseason contention & now they are just playing for pride. My cousin Jerome Spann called it after week 1: 20 interception Eli Manning was back & he’s one int away from 20. It’s a damn shame when both N.Y. starting qbs (Geno Smith as well) has thrown 19 ints this yr. We understand Geno because he’s a rookie, but not Eli. The Seahawks are a td road fave. I like the Seahawks to add more turnovers to Eli & get the win as well.

Philadelphia vs Minnesota- I called it last week that Nick Foles was going to throw his 1st int & he did. However, w/Shady McCoy’s breakout performance in the snow, the Eagles beat the Lions. They were down in the 1st half, but woke up in the 2nd. The Vikings are coming off a crazy loss in Baltimore in which both teams combined for 4 tds in the last 1:30 of the game. That game was played in the snow as well. The Vikings won’t have Adrian Peterson for this game because of an ankle injury. Peterson also went on Twitter & went off on the officiating as well as the Ravens’ fans for throwing snowballs at him & his teammates. To those fans, you messed it up for true fans out there. Eagles are 4.5 road faves. I like the Eagles to win big because they are going be inside a dome. No weather will affected Foles this game.

New England vs Miami- The Pats are coming off a thrilling come from behind victory over the Browns, but lost Gronk in the process as he tore his ACL & MCL from a hit by T.J. Ward. It’s going be a huge loss because now Tom Brady will have to rely on guys like Edelamn, Thompkins & other no names to catch the ball. He’ll probably might have to use Ridley, Blount, or Veeren w/ checkdowns if the receivers are covered. For the Dolphins, they needed a replay to escape a win in Pittsburgh. It’s between them & the Ravens who are fighting for the final wild card spot. The Pats are competing w/ Denver for homefield. It’s a big game for both teams & New England’s lucky they’ll be in South Beach instead of cold ass Foxborro. The Pats are 2 pt road faves. I like the Pats by a fg. Brady should trump over Tannehill.

Buffalo vs Jacksonville- Another meaningless game here. The Bills are coming off an embarrassing loss to the Bucs in Tampa Bay & now have to go back to Florida to face another professional team there. At least they won’t be swept there because they won in Miami earlier this season. For the Jags, they have won 4 out of 5 after starting 0-9.  Just like the Bucs, they started slow, but looking to finish strong at the end. The Bills are 2 pt road faves. I’m rolling w/ the hot hand in the Jags.

Houston vs Indianapolis- Despite the Colts losing in Cincy, they clinched the AFC South when the Broncos defeated the Titans. Now, they and the Bengals will be competing for the 3rd seed in the AFC & the Bengals own the tiebreaker because of their win over Indy. The Colts will probably need Trent Richardson to snap out of his slump for the postseason. For the Texans, Wade Phillips wants to be permanent coach for Houston & losing to the Jags in his dress rehearsal didn’t look good for him. I wonder if Schaub’s gonna be the next casuality after the season’s done. The Colts are 5.5 home faves. I like the Colts to win by a td.

Chicago vs Cleveland- On the night they retired Mike Ditka’s number in Soldier Field, the Bears put on a show & destroyed the Cowboys. Both the offense & defense came out & Josh McKnown’s performance has many Bears’ fans thinking they don’t need Jay Cutler & let him rest his injury. They are still in a dog fight though for the NFC North title w/ Detroit even though the Lions own the tiebreaker & Green Bay. For my Browns, heartbreaking loss in New England. They had an 11 pt lead w/ 2 mins left & still lost. Bright spot was Josh Gordon, who broke the team’s single season record for most receiving yds & Jordan Cameron. Campbell looked good in his return game from his concussion & bruised ribs. It’s a Midwest battle & both fan bases are crazy. Also, it’s the Browns final regular season home game this yr, so they want to give the fans something to cheer for. The Browns are a pt home fave.  I’m choosing my Browns to win by a fg. Gordon & Cameron should have breakout games.

Randy:

Kansas City vs Oakland- The Chiefs ended their 3 game losing streak w/ a beatdown on a dysfunctional Redskins team. They hope to win out to carry momentum going into the playoffs. For the Raiders, they’re coming off a loss to the Jets in New York. It’s round 2 of this battle, Chiefs won a close one the 1st match-up in Kansas City. Expect another close one since it’s a heated rivalry. The Chiefs are 4 pt road faves. I like the Chiefs to win & take the pts.

Randy:

NY Jets vs Carolina- The Jets are coming off a home win over the Raiders & Geno Smith finally threw a td pass for the 1st time in 2 months.  The goal for the Jets in the final 3 weeks is to win out son Rex Ryan can keep his job & finish over .500. They still are in the hunt for the wild card. The Panthers will want to regroup after the beatdown they received in New Orleans, thus snapping their 8 game winning streak. They’ll probably have Jonathan Stewart back for this game after missing last game because of injury. It’s a big game for the Panthers & they better not look ahead because they have the rematch w/ the Saints in Carolina next week.  Who’ll do better this game Cam Newton  or Geno Smith? The Panhers are 11 pt home faves. I like the Panthers, but take the under because this better not be a trap game.

Randy:

Green Bay vs Dallas- The Packers are coming off a comeback win at home vs the Falcons & w/ the Lions losing to Philly, they are a half game behind the Bears for 1st place in the NFC North. Had they lost, they probably would had shut down Aaron Rodgers for the season. Now, his availibilty will the biggest question heading into this week. For the Cowboys, what the hell happened to their defense? Good ol’ Monte Kifflin thought he was back at SC & they gave up 45 pts to a Bears team led by Josh McKnown. Remember, it’s December people & we know how Romo does that month. No line for this game because they won’t know if Rodgers play. I like the Packers to pull this out because I can see Rodgers doing his best Willis Reed impersonation. (IT’S DECEMBER LETTY)

Randy:

Arizona vs Tennessee- The Cards are still in the hunt for the wild card & coming off a home win over the Rams. However, they received some bad news as Tyronn Matthieu aka the Honey Badger is out for the yr w/ a shoulder injury. Him & Patrick Peterson are their best players in that secondary. The Titans are coming off a loss in Denver when they jumped out on them, but the Broncos jumped back. The new Titans CEO’ already saying they should use Chris Johnson more. I don’t blame them. The Cards are a fg road fave. I like the Cards to win straight up.

Randy:

New Orleans vs St Louis- The Saints regained their lead in the NFC South w/ their dominating win over the Panthers at home. Drew Brees made the Panthers defense look stupid. The Saints are an animal when they are at home. For the Rams, tough road loss to the Cards on the road, but they aren’t a pushover in that division. Like I said bout the Panthers, the Saints better not look ahead or have a trap game because round 2 w/ the Panthers is next week in Carolina. The Panthers are 6 pt road faves. I like the Saints to win & take the pts.

Randy:

Cincinnati vs Pittsburgh- Round 2 of this AFC North battle. The Bengals won a close on in their 1st match-up in the Nati. The Bengals are coming off a home win over Indy & are looking to fight them off for that 3rd seed in the AFC. They have put up w/ injuries on their defensive side & need to win out to win the division. They still have the Ravens to close out the season. For the Steelers, a tough loss at home vs Miami, yet they are still in the hunt for the wild card. They know that one more loss kills their postseason hopes. Expect another close game here. The Bengals are fg road faves.  I like the Bengals to win & cover the spread.

Monday

Baltimore vs Detroit- The Ravens are coming off a crazy win over the Vikngs & are still in the race for the postseason. They’re hoping to just make the tournament because they know anything can happen when you’re in the postseason. The Lions are coming off a losse in Philly when the snow blizzard played a major part. You can tell the weather was a factor w/ the team having 5 turnovers & Stafford had trouble handling the snaps from center. The Lions are still in a dogfight w/ the Bears for the NFC North & own the tiebreaker if needed.  Every game is important for these teams. The Lions are 6 pt home faves. I like the Lions to win & cover.

Last week, the b-day boy Noez & Randy were tied for the best showing w/a 13-3 record while I had to round out the field w/ an 11-5 showing. In the overall showing for Mega’s bonus, it looks like Randy will win this hands down as his record increases w/ 135-72 while I’m in 2nd w/ 126-81 while Noez rounds out w/ 121-84.  Happy belated b-day shoutout to Natalie Madrigal & Marissa Janeen Avendano. Happy b-day shoutouts to Esmeralda Rodriguez, Catherine Maya, Amber Perwoski- Gacia, Kassie Eileen, Omni Chang, & Christina Henshall. I know the Lakers are 0-2 w/ Kobe back, but give them time folks. Baseball meetings are heating & it looks like the Dodgers are looking to make moves.  I know my boy Screws is pissed bout Cano leaving like I am. I like Winston to win the Heisman this week. I’ll catch everyone on the next blog!! Peace
