Russell Wilson for MVP? that’s the league talking

Only 4 more weeks remaining til the regular season & we already have 1 team clinch a playoff spot. That would be the Seattle Seahawks ladies & gents. We have some tight divisional races as well as teams fighting for playoff positioning. Last week, we saw Mike Tomlin stealing the spotlight in the Ravens/Steelers game, resulting in a $100k fine. We also saw the Seahawks dominated the Saints in front of their 12th man on Monday night & making their claim as the best team in the NFL. I wonder if the final weeks of the season will be exciting like the rivalry games in college over the weekend. I hope everyone had a safe thanksgiving weekend by the way. Let’s review some games shall we.

Houston vs Jacksonville- 2nd meeting between these teams. The Jags won the 1st match-up in Houston. Jags are coming off a victory in Cleveland & despite coming out slow earlier in the season, they have picked up the pace & played very well. For the Texans, coming off a loss to the Pats & they’re hoping the season ends real soon. Them & the Falcons have been the most disappointing teams this yr. Enjoy Coach Kubiak’s tenure while you can because I think he’s getting the ax after the season. The Texans are a fg road fave. I like the Texans to end this slump & put a smile on Kubiak’s face w/ the win.

Randy: Houston

Buffalo vs Tampa Bay- The Bills are coming off a loss to the Falcons in their home away from home in Toronto while the Bucs are coming off a road loss in Carolina. The Bucs have been more competitive since they started out 0-9. I guess Schiano’s coaching for his job since he’s on the hot seat. For the Bills, they still have slim hopes for the postseason, but one more loss & the dream’s done. An 8-8 record would be positivie for this squad. The Bucs are 2.5 home faves. I like the Bucs to win by a fg at home.

Randy: Tampa Bay

Kansas City vs Washington- The Chiefs have been on a skid lately. After starting off the season 9-0, they have lost 3 straight, twice to Denver in a 2 week span & injuries have hurt this team. The Redskins have been eliminated from postseason play, coming off a home loss to the Giants & things aren’t looking good RG III. The sophomore slump has kicked his ass & the media is jumping down on his dad’s throat when Pops says things bout Coach Shanahan’s play calling. I think it’s time for Cousins to finish out the season. The Chiefs are 3 pts road faves. Chiefs need this game. I like them to win & cover.

Randy: Kansas City

Atlanta vs Green Ba7- The Packers look like a last place team since Aaron Rodgers’ collarbone injury. He practiced today, but his availibilty for the game will be a question mark. Despite their struggles, they’re still in the race for the NFC North title. For the Falcons, despite getting that win over the Bills, this has been a disappointing season for them & I feel bad for Tony Gonzalez in his farewell season. What a way to go out w/ no playoffs. The Packers are a td home fave. It’s going be a cold day at Lambeau Field, so expect a lot of Eddie Lacy. I like the Packers to win. If Rodgers doesn’t play, just make Matt Flynn a game manager.

Randy: Green Bay

Detroit vs Philadelphia- A great morning game here & if you play fantasy football, expect a lot of points for your players. Both teams are in the postseason hunt for wild card & division titles. The Lions are coming off a thanksgiving blowout win over a Rodgers- less Packers team while the Eagles had to hold off the Cards at home to win. Nick Foles has 19 td passes & no ints, but he’s going face a Lions squad who loves to prey on quarterbacks. I think he’s going throw an int this game. If you have Megatron, Shady McCoy, Reggie Bush, or Desean Jackson on your f.f team, start them. Expect a high scoring game. The Eagles are 2.5 home faves. I like the Eagles to protect their house w/ a close win.

Randy: Philly

Miami vs Pittsburgh- Both teams are in the hunt for wild card in the AFC. The Dolphins are coming off a road win over the Jets while the Steelers lost another close game to the Ravens in B-More, but Tomlin & his sideline actions stole the show that night. Small storyline is the return of Mike Wallace, who left the Steelers after last season & took the money & ran to South Beach. I wonder what kind of reception will he receive from Steelers nation. The Steeler are a fg home fave. I like the Steelers to win & cover.

Randy: Miami

Indianapolis vs Cincinnati- Both teams control their destiny in their respective divisions. Just win out & the diivision’s there. The Colts had a tough home win vs the Titans, but Andrew Luck doesn’t look the same ever since Reggie Wayne got hurt & Trent Richardson’s poor play got him demoted to back-up to Donald Brown.. The Bengals got a road win in San Diego, but you never know which Bengals team will show up & the 3rd yr of Dalton & Green is like a roller coaster. One minute they’re clicking, the next they’re not on the same page. The Bengals still have games left vs the Ravens & Steelers to close out their season. The Bengals are 6 pt home faves.  I like the Bengals to win, but this better not be a trap game since they face the Steelers in Pittsburgh the following week.

Randy: Cincy

Cleveland vs New England: My Brown suffered a tough loss at home vs the Jags despite Josh Gordon having another 200 yd receiving performance. They needed to win out to have a chance for postseason play. They still have a slim chance, but one more loss kills that hope. I’ve been saying either postseason berth or an 8-8 record makes me happy. For the Pats, coming off a road win vs Houston & this is usually the time of the season when they are focusing on the postseason, clicking on cylnders. Brady’s performance has picked up ever Gronk returned. I wonder if Ridley got rid of his fumbling problems & suit up this game. He looked like Omar Epps on “The Program” holding the ball in his civis.  Don’t expect any big rushing output from both teams. The Pats are 11 pts home faves. I see the Pats winning & take the under.

Randy: New England

Oakland vs N.Y. Jets- Both teams still have slim hopes for the postseason. However, both are coming off losses, but the Raiders looked competitive in theirs over the Cowboys. It looks like this may be the end for McFadden in a Raiders uniform. Injuries & the emergence of Rashad Jennings makes him not wanted. For the Jets, this whole yr was pretty depended on which Geno Smith showed up. He was great in wins, garbage in losses. Recently, he’s been benched the last few games for Matt Simmns, but Rex insists to keep starting him. It’s like Mark Sanchez all over again. The Jets are 2.5 home faves. I like the Raiders by a Sea Bass fg.

Randy: NY Jets

Minnesota vs Baltimore- The Ravens control their destiny in the 6th spot for the AFC wild card after their win over the Steelers on Thursday. They still have one more game vs the Bengals and they think they still have a shot for the AFC North title. The Vikings are just playing for pride now. They’re coming off an ot win vs the Bears & Adrian Peterson reached the 10.000 yd mark in rushing career & went for 211 yds in that game. I think he averages 189 a game vs the Bears in his career. I wonder how many he’s gonna get on the Ravens. This aint’ the same Ravens defense for years past. The Ravens are a td home fave. I like the Ravens to win at home.

Randy: Baltimore

Tennessee vs Denver- The Broncos are coming off sweeping the Chiefs in the head to head battle in the AFC West & hold a game lead on New England for homefield advantage throughout the AFC postseason. Peyton Manning had 5 tds passes, 4 of them went to Eric Decker & they will have John Fox back on the sidelines this game. Great story for them. The Titans are coming off a tough road loss in Indy & still have slim hopes for the postseason. However, they will need a lot of help to reach that goal. Denver’s a 11 pt home fave. I like the Broncos to win because they have their goal set for homefield.

Randy: Denver

St. Louis vs Arizona- Both teams are coming off losses, however they are still in competition for postseason berths. The Cards are coming off a road loss, but get to return home where they’re different animals.  The Rams are coming off a road loss to their divisional rivals San Francisco, but w/ them, Arizona, San Francisco & Seattle, they brought respect back to the NFC West & made that division competitive. The Cards are 6 pt home faves. I like the Cards to sweep this head to head series.

Randy: Arizona

Seattle vs San Francisco- Round 2 of this great NFC West rivalry. The Seahawks won round 1 in Seattle, but now they have to come to Candlestick. Both teams are coming off wins. The 49ers dominated the Rams & Michael Crabtree made an impact in his season. Adding him w/ Boldin, Vernon Davis, Mario Manningham, & Frank Gore opens it for Kaepernick. The Seahwaks just popped the Saints in the mouth & they are talking Russell Wilson for MVP. He’s a game manager & their defense along w/ Carolina & San Francisco are the best in the league. It’s going to be a low scoring affair the Niners are 2.5 home faves. I like the Niners by a fg. That Niner crowd has to be more vocal & loud like the 12th man.

Randy: Seattle

N.Y. Giants vs San Diego- The Giants are coming off a road win in D.C & Coughlin’s telling the media they still have hopes for the postseason. The Chargers are coming off a home loss to the Bengals & are also in the hunt for the postseason. Since the game’s in San Diego, it gives the Chargers’ fan to boo Eli since he refused to play for them when they drafted hin in the 2004 draft. It resulted in them trading him to the Giants for their pick in that same draft, which was Phillip Rivers. Eli’s has two rings since while Rivers has put up impressive numbers, but yet has to reach a Super Bowl. Prepare to hear a loud boo for Manning. The Chargers are fg home faves. I can see the Chargers winning & wanting to stick it to Eli. To Burt, Moises, & the party crew who’s going to the game, have fun & be safe.

Randy: NY Giants

Carolina vs New Orleans- The game of the night!! The Panthers are coming in New Orleans red hot, winning 8 straight w/ a tough defense, running game & Cam Newton’s play got people putting him in the MVP conversation like Russell Wilson. The Saints are a different team when they aren’t in the Superdome & last game’s in seattle proved it. That offense couldn’t move the ball & Brees had a string of 200 yds passing game snapped. Ths is round 1 of this divisional battle & the rematch in Carolina isn’t til 2 weeks later. Whoever wins this game has the upper hand in the NFC South. The Saints are 3.5 home faves. I can see the Panthers coming into the Dome & upsetting them. I like the Panthers.

Randy: New Orleans

Dallas vs Chicago- The Cowboys are coming off a tough thanksgiving home win over the Raiders. Romo looked great & DeMarco Murrary scored 3 short yard tds. Their defense causes turnovers & I don’t know if they’re gonna have Sean Lee in this game. The Bears are coming off a tough ot loss in Minnesota despite Alston Jeffery having a 200 yd receiving game. Despite the loss, they’re still in the race for the NFC North title. The interesting storyline for this game is the month of December & how Romo does in that month. It’s not very pretty. Cowboys fan hope he can shake that monkey. The Bears are a pt home fave. I sorta like the Cowboys to win this close game on the road. For my buddy Letty Robinson, remember these words: IT’S December!!

Randy: Chicago

Last week, your boy was the top dawg w/ a 13-3 record. Randy was in 2nd w/ a 12-4 finish while Noez finished w/ a 10-6. For the Mega 7981 bonus overall prize, Randy’s lead has increased by 7 w/a 122-69 tally, followed by me w/ 1115-76 while Noez rounds it out w/ 108-81. Happy belated b-day to Payton Claiborne. Happy b-day shoutouts to Tanya Ramos, Issac Rivera, Estee Chico- Guiterrez, Emily Yasutomi, Jamie Duchesneau, Manuel Fierros, Noez (you gotta have a big showing this week), my cousin Garnetta Dansby, Jonathan Holguin, Rosie Godinez, & Jeremiah Marks. On Monday December 9, it’ll be 14 yrs since my lil sister Carole Brewster was taking from my family tragically. It’s still love from “Big Brother” & everyone in the family. We also have big things in other sports this weekend (The Buckeyes in the BIG 10 title game have to win to insure themselves in the BCS title). We thought Kobe was going to make his return on Friday, but that’ll have to wait til probably Sunday. In the fight between Judah & Mallinaggi, I like Judah in split decision. Before I sign out, I want everyone to vote for my girl Brittany Brickner in the Miss Double D-Cember contest sponsored by KROQ radio. Just log on at kroq.cbslocal.com. Catch ya’ll on the next blog!! Peace!!
