The Final 4

Posted: January 17, 2013 by djplaymaker in NFL

We’re almost @ the home stretch folks. The final four teams remaining in the NFL playoffs are playing for the Lombardi trophy. Last week, we saw a high scoring affair in all the divisional playoffs. We saw Kaepernick’s one man show vs the Packers, the Broncos brain fart @ home vs the Ravens, Matty Ice finally winning a playoff game after the Falcons almost blowing a lead, & the Pats showing the Texans that they aren’t ready for the next level yet. The conference titles game are off da chain. We have a rematch from last yr’s AFC game while the runner-up from the NFC game is back to finish the deal this time around. Let’s break down conference title week

will Kaepernick be the new "49ers legend" after 3 weeks?

San Francisco vs Atlanta- The 49ers are back in the conference title game. Last yr, I thought they should had representing the NFC in last yr’s Super Bowl. It was special teams’ miscues & Alex Smith was playing scared. This time around, they have Colin Kaepernick as the playcaller & he makes them more dangerous. You don’t believe me, ask the Packers. He & Frank Gore combined for 302 yds rushing & he passed for 271 yds. His only mistake was the pick 6 he threw in the 1st qtr. For the Falcons, they had to come back from blowing a lead. They had the Seahawks shooked for the 1st half til Russell Wilson led a charge in the 2nd half. Matty Ice shook that “can’t win in the postseason” monkey off the back. Which qb can handle the pressure knowing that one win gets them in the Super Bowl? We’ll find out this week. The 49ers are 4.5 road faves. I like the Niners to redeem from last yr’s loss & finally win a road playoff for the 1st time since 1989. I like their defense better than Atlanta’s.

Can Ray lead this group along w/Flacco to the Super Bowl?

Baltimore vs New England- Round 3 of this battle. These 2 teams played last yr in Foxborro & Baltimore almost came out of there w/ a win. We all know what happened: Lee Evans td drop followed by Billy Cundiff missed fg. The Ravens are playing w/ house money now. Nobody expected them to beat Denver in Invesco Field last week. Flacco played his best game & came up big in that final drive to tie the game. John Fox has some explaining to do after having Peyton Manning taking a knee w/ 38 seconds & 2 timeouts. For the Pats, the Texans couldn’t stop them. However, they lost Gronk again after he hurt the same hand he broke. Can Brady make a return visit to the big game & ended Ray Lewis’ career in the same place he lost at last yr or will the Ravens exorcise those demons from last yr. The Pats are 9 pt home faves. That’s high of a spread. I’m taking the Ravens in a close one meaning I hope we get the Harbaugh Bowl I wanted from last yr.

Last week, I was the top dawg w/ 3 -1 while Noez & Randy were tied w/ 2-2. Let’s hope I get all my picks right. Happy b-day shoutouts to my fam in C-Town Sheronda Hogue, Lisa Riverie, Yvette Calzada, Lalo Juarez, & Jesse & Esther Zuniga. Let’s hope the Lake Show turned this season around. Already w/ 2 wins this week, let’s get that statement win on the Heat tomorrow. Manti Te’o needs Jesus after the charade he pulled & R.I.P. to Conrad Bain aka Phillip Drummond. I’ll catch ya’ll next blog. Peace!!
