the new “highlight film of the NFL” RG III

We got 5 more weeks left til the playoffs pop off & we already got teams postioning for their right spot in the postseason party. Last week, we saw both the top seeds (Houston & Atlanta) have dogfights in their win while the 49ers went into New Orleans & dominate a Saints team & still people are asking bout a quarterback controversy. For me personally, it was a great weekend for me as my home teams (Browns & Buckeyes) beat their rivals (Steelers & Wolverines). I wonder what surprises are in store for this week. Let’s chop it up.

Thursday

New Orleans vs Atlanta- Round 2 of this NFC South battle. The Saints prevailed in round 1 in the Superdome & knocked the Falcons from the unbeaten. The Falcons are coming off a dogfight win in Tampa while the Saints had their 5 game winning streak snapped by the 49ers. Atlanta wants that homefield advantage, but they are showing flaws, especially Matt Ryan & his turnovers. He has to win a playoff game this yr to get respect while the Saints are needing help to get one of those wild card spots. The Falcons are 3 & half home faves. I say take the Falcons straight up because these two teams always play close games.

Sunday

Arizona vs NY Jets- Both teams are coming off double digits losses, but the Jets loss was more embarrassing because it was on thanksgiving & the effort of the team wasn’t there. It’s got so bad for the Jets that “Fireman Ed” has quit as being “Fireman Ed” for the Jets. Plus, Rex lost cool points by dressing Tebow when he was under the weather. For the Cards, the Rams did them in, but the only bright spot was the return of Beanie Wells & he scored 2 tds. Both teams playing for pride. The Jets are 4 & half home faves. They are due for a win. I like the Jets by a touchdown (hi Havana gf)

Randy:

Jacksonville vs Buffalo- Both teams are playing for pride & the Jags surprised me w/ their win over the Titans. The Bills fell to the Colts last week. Pretty much nothing to talk about this game. The Bills are 6 pt home faves. I like the Bills to circle the wagons & win this by at least 10.

Randy:

Seattle vs Chicago- What a difference Jay Cutler makes for the Bears. A week after Campbell wet the bed in San Francisco, Cutler returns & leads them to a home win vs the Vikings & regained their lead in the NFC North. They had to do it w/ both Forte & Hester being injured. Michael Bush carried the slack for Forte w/ 2 short yd tds. For the Seahawks, they suffered a heartbreaking loss in Miami, but that game made headlines w/ the sprinklers going on during the game. Remind America of the Buffalo Wild Wings commercial. The Seahawks still have playoff hopes, but they can forget about winning the NFC West. Bears are 4 pt home faves. Seattle did beat them last yr in the Chi, but both Cutler & Forte were hurt. I like the Bears by a fg.

Randy:

San Francisco vs St Louis- Last time these teams met, it resulted in a tie & Alex Smith suffered his concussion. He hasn’t seen the field since. Enter Colin Kaepernick. Commentors have compared him to Randall Cunningham & 49ers Nation has fell in love w/ him. He’s a different breed & does more than Smith. He went into hostile environment (New Orleans) & proceed to lead the team to victory. Defense stepped up & made Brees life a living hell. For the Rams, their defense was the key in their win over the Cards. I know the Niners will look for payback for that tie. The Niners are a td road fave. I like the 49ers by at least 10.

Noez:

Randy:

New England vs Miami- Believe or not, everyone is saying the Patriots are the best team in the AFC. They put boots to asses to the Jets on thanksgiving & are clicking at the right time, even w/o Gronk. The Dolphins are coming off a last second win @ home vs the Seahawks. New England has picked a right time to go to South Beach, since winter time has probably already hit the east coast. The Pats are 9 pt road faves. I like the Pats & the over.

Noez:

Randy:

Minnesota vs Green Bay- We have a NFC North battle here. Both teams are coming off losses (Vikings to the Bears while the Packers were manhandled by the G-Man & Aaron Rodgers was sacked 5 times in the process. Both teams still have hope for the postseaon, but the Vikes need more hope. To the Packers offensive line, if the Giants can get to Rodgers 5 times, then how many times will Jared Allen get to him? I do remember the game when he had at least 5 sacks on him. The Packers are 9.5 home faves. I like the Pack & the under.

Noez:

Randy:

Indianapolis vs Detroit- “Chuck Strong” is still going strong for the Colts, They are coming off the win @ home vs the Bills & if the season ended today, they would be facing the Broncos in the wild card game. Andrew Luck has picked up where Peyton Manning left off. For the Lions, another thanksgiving loss, this time in ot vs the Texans & it was overshadowed again by N’Damukong Suh’s antics. Last yr, he stomped the Packers linemen, this yr he kicked Matt Schaub in the groin. He was lucky that Goodell only fined him. Suh needs anger management for real. If I was on the Colts O-Line, my mission is to keep Suh off Luck. The Lions are 4 & half home faves. I’m riding w/ the Colts to win & take the under.

Noez:

Randy:

Carolina vs Kansas City- If I was Cam Newton, I would sending thank you cards to the Eagles. He needed a game like that to get the Carolina media off his back. It look like “rookie Cam” than “sophomore slump Cam”. For the Chiefs, they played the Broncos tough, but still lost & people are making a big deal about Jamaal Charles asking Peyton Manning for an autograph. He said it was for his moms. Let it go. The Panthers are 2.5 road faves. I like Cam better than Cassel. Take the Panthers & over.

Noez:

Randy:

Tampa Bay vs Denver: The Broncos had to squeak out a tough one in Kansas City while the Bucs played the Falcons tough, but lost a close one. The Broncos pretty much have the AFC west wrapped up while the Bucs are still in the hunt for the wild card. Schiano has turned that culture around. Not bad for earlier when he was canning quaterbacks during victory formation. The Broncos are 7 pt home faves. That sounds bout right. Take the Broncos straight up.

Noez:

Randy:

Cincinnati vs San Diego- The Bengals are looking to go 3-1 vs the AFC West after this week. They ran literally all over the Raiders & ruined Carson Palmer’s return. The Chargers found the craziest way to blow their game vs the Ravens (4th & 29 anyone). Norv’s tenure is looking bad & he probably can’t wait til this season’s over. The Bengals are looking to finish again w/ a winning record. The Bengals are 4 pt road faves. I like the Bengals by a td.

Noez:

Randy:

Cleveland vs Oakland- My Browns’ defense showed up in a major way in their win over the Steelers. 8 turnovers & I don’t want to hear that Charlie Batch was starting crap. Big question for this week is the health of Brandon Weeden since he didn’t finish the game. It may be Colt McCoy time. For the Raiders, The Bengals pretty much punked the Raiders. Both teams are looking for draft positions. The Raiders are 1.5 home faves. I like my Browns by a fg.

Noez:

Randy:

Pittsburgh vs Baltimore- Round 2 of this battle. The Ravens won the 1st battle in Pittsburgh 2 weeks ago & Leftwich got hurt in the process. Roethesberger is set to make his return in that game. Last week, Batch & the Steelers were playing hot potato w/ the ball in their loss in Cleveland. For the Ravens, last week was described by this: “Hey Diddle, Diddle, Ray Rice in the middle”. Had to go into ot & defeated the Chargers & may get Ray Lewis back sometime in 2 weeks. The Ravens are still hoping to keep that 2nd seed in the AFC while the Steelers are hoping for the wild card. There’s no line for this game. I like the Ravens to sweep the head-to-head series again. Ravens by a fg.

Noez:

Randy:

Philadelphia vs Dallas- Both teams are coming off losses, but the Cowboys still have slim chances for the postseason while the Eagles are just playing for pride as the Andy Reid era will be winding down. It got so bad for Philly that Desean Jackson had to “shut down” for the yr after injuring his shoulder & Jason Babin was released. For the Cowboys, RG III did them dirty point blank. The Cowboys are 10 pt home faves. Normally, I would had said the Eagles to piss of my buddy Leticia Robinson, but even I know the Eagles won’t win this game.Cowboys by a td (happy now Letty Bear)

Randy:

Monday
NY Giants vs Washington- Great battle here for Monday night. They played a classic the 1st time they met in Met Life Stadium. It came down to an Eli 4th qtr miracle. Both teams are coming off wins. The Giants needed the bye week to knock some dust off & defeated the Packers while RG III is picking the right time to work his magic & he put on a show for the thanksgiving crowd in Dallas. Giants still lead the NFC East, but even though the Redskins are 4-7, that division is in for a dog fight. G-Man are 2.5 road faves. I like the G-Man by a fg.

Last week, yours truly & Randy were tied for the top spot w/ a 11-5 record while Noez rounded out w/ a 8-8. Let’s see who reigns supreme this week. Happy b-day shoutouts to Steve Ojeda, Christine Montes (hope you have fun at the No Doubt concert), my favorite go go dancer Brianna Ortiz, Howard Moore, Erick Torres, & my mentors in the deejay game Al “Plan B” Lopez & Danny “D-Side” Anderson. W/out them, there wouldn’t be no Playmaker. I hope I see a lot of y’all on Friday @ Havana House. I’ll catch everyone on the next blog. Peace!!
