Week 5 preview

Manning vs Brady!! Nuff Said

What a crazy week we saw in week 4. We saw the Falcons & Cardinals needing late game heroics to remain undefeated, the Texans just handling their business still, the Jets losing another key player, & Romo stinking up Cowboys stadium. However, the best news was on Wednesday when we found out the regular refs were back & we didn’t have to deal w/ the footlocker scabs anymore. I wonder what do we have in store for this week. Before I start, I would like to thank everyone for the b-day love & big shoutouts to “Big” Chris Landrum for letting me have my party @ Seta’ Lounge. It was crazy pack & also another shoutout to Allister Carlos for playing my “assistant” lol. Let’s talk about football now.

Thursday

Arizona vs St. Louis- The Cards return back to their former home in the Lou for this Thursday night affair. They needed overtime to defeat the Dolphins & remain still undefeated while the Rams made Russell Wilson’s day a living hell & edge out a defensive battle to defeat Seattle. The Cards are proving people they are for real & their defense is the difference. Kolb is feeling himself yet he knows the next time he struggles, Skeleton’s getting his starting job back. Also, the NFC West is no joke, so expect a lot of hard hitting in this game. The Cards are 2.5 road faves. I like the Cards by a fg.

Noez:

Randy: St Louis

Sunday

Miami vs Cincinnati- The Bengals get to host the Dolphins this week. They are coming off a dominating win in Jacksonville while the Dolphins lost a heartbreaker in ot in Arizona, despite Tanehill breaking Marino’s rookie record for most yds passing in a game & Brian Hartline having a break out game. Even though the Dolphins are 1-3, they are one tough cookie to knock out. It’s also a battle of young qb’s between Tanehill & Andy Dalton. The Bengals are 4 pts home faves. I like the Bengals by 10

Noez:

Randy: Cincy

Green Bay vs Indianapolis- The Packers had a nailbiter to defeat the Saints last week. They were probably the happiest to see those regular officials after that Monday night screwjob in Seattle. The Colts are coming off a bye week, but were hit emotionally when they found out their coach Pagano was diagonosed w/ a treatable version of leukima. Prayers go out to him. Bruce Arians, who used to be the Browns offensive coordinator back in the days, will be the interim coach for the time being. I can’t wait to see this quarterback matchup between Aaron Rodgers & Andrew Luck. Expect a lot of yards between both of them. The Packers are 7.5 road faves. I like the Pack & take the points.

Noez:

Randy: Green Bay

Cleveland vs N.Y. Giants- My Browns played their hearts out last Thursday & still came out w/ a loss. The problem was Greg Little & his butterfinger hands. 5 dropped passes, what was this a Braylon Edwards flashback! At least the defense made it close & Dq’well Jackson’s playing like he was worth that contract extension he received. The secondary was exposed by Flacco & Boldin in the 2nd half (hurry back Joe Haden). For the Giants, they lost a nailbiter in Philly, but could had won it if Ramsey Barden wasn’t called for offensive pass interference , which made that field goal attempt much longer. There was something that Tom Coughlin said today in his press conference that caught my attention. He said that even though the Browns are 0-4, don’t let that record fool you. They have some upside, even though they are the youngest team in the league. They just needed that one guy to get them over the top. The Giants are 13.5 home faves. That’s too high for a spread. Win or lose, gotta support my team. Browns by a squeaker.

Noez:

Randy: NYG

Baltimore vs Kansas City- The Chiefs are hoping to shake off that Chargers beatdown at home as they host the Ravens this week. The Ravens needed a late stop to defeat my Browns on Thursday. This looks like a great competition of running backs between Ray Rice & Jamal Charles, but sometimes they forget that he’s back there when Flacco decides to run the offense. I’m not knocking Flacco & I call him the “CM Punk” of NFL quarterbacks whenever he says he’s an elite qb (just waiting for them to play “Cult of Personality” whenever he comes out the sideline), but Ray Rice’s an all pro back & dangerous things happen when he touches the ball. For the Chiefs, Charles is their offense & that’s it. I wouldn’t trust Matt Cassel to lead my team. The Ravens are a td road fave. I like the Ravens & the over.

Noez:

Randy: Baltimore

Philadelphia vs Pittsburgh- The battle of Pennsylvania hits Pittsburgh this week as the Steelers & Eagles lock heads. Last time these two teams played, it was preseason & Michael Vick’s thumb was injured when it hit his lineman’s helmet. The Eagles are coming off a hard fought win over their hated rivals the Giants. Vick didn’t have a turnover that game & him & Lesean McCoy took over that 2nd half. For the Steelers, they’re coming off their bye week, but looks like they’ll be getting healthier w/ the returns of James Harrison, Troy Polamalu, & Rashad Mendehall. I know Haley’s the new offensive coordinator & wanted to be more smashmouthed (running the ball), but as long as Ben Roethesberger the quarterback, he’s gonna let them fly.
Expect a defensive battle. The Steelers are 2.5 home faves. You already know my hatred for the wack & yellow! Eagles by a fg. Fly Eagles Fly

Noez:

Randy: Pitts

Atlanta vs Washington- Both teams are coming off last minute wins last week. The Falcons got lucky w/ a bomb from Matt Ryan to Roddy White from their one yard line to get in field position & couple plays later, won on a field goal. The Redskins gave RG III his 1st game winning drive in the league to defeat the Bucs in Tampa. Speaking for the Redskins, speedy recoveries to Brandon Meriweather & that guy who he collided with during pre game punt coverage drills. So far, RG III’s living up to those expectations when it comes to excitement. I think this game will have a lot of excitement & ball movement. Ryan’s looking to be in that elite group of qbs’ (win a playoff game 1st before we have that discussion) while Griffin’s looking to lead the Skins to postseason goals. The Falcons are a field goal road fave. This game is a toss-up for me. I like the Falcons by a fg as well.

Noez:

Randy: Atlanta

Seattle vs Carolina- One week after stealing a victory from Green Bay on Monday night football (thanks to the scab officials), reality bit them in the ass & the Rams busted their bubble. Now, they have to go to Carolina to face a team, who thought they had victory in their hands in Atlanta til Matty Ice happened. The Panthers should be happy that Super Cam showed up & not the Hello Kitty Cam (that newspaper was wrong for that). This may come down to which qb (Newton & Russell Wilson) makes the less mistakes & if Carolina could actually run the ball. When the running game’s going, watch out. The Panthers are 2 pt home faves. I like the Panthers by a fg.

Noez:

Randy: Carolina

Chicago vs Jacksonville- Jay Cutler & the Bears are looking to carry that momentum from Dallas on Monday to Jacksonville this week. He outplayed Tony Romo & the Bears defense was on point whether it was causing 5 ints or sacking him. For the Jags, they were just manhandled by the Bengals. Question for the Bears, which Cutler will show up? The one from Monday night or the one from that Thursday night game in Green Bay when he was throwing ints & pushing J’marcus Webb? We just have to find out. The Bears are fg road faves. Sounds bout right. I take da Bears.

Noez:

Randy: Chicago

Tennesse vs Minnesota- Whoever thought the Vikings would start the season 3-1, stop lying to yourselves. Leslie Frazier has got that team believing in their abilities. Hell, Christian Ponder hasn’t throw a int yet. Last week in their win in Detroit, the special teams scored twice (Percy Harvin on the opening kickoff & Marcus Sherels on a punt return). For the Titans, they were beat down physically by Houston (Jake Locklear separated his shoulder), but at least Chris Johnson had a breakout game w/ 141 yds rushing. Pretty much, the only reason to watch this game is the running back match-up between Chris Johnson & Adrian Peterson. The Vikings are 5.5 home faves. Sounds fair. I like the Vikings straight up.

Noez:

Randy: Minn

Denver vs New England- Tom Brady vs Peyton Manning. Enough said. Even though Manning’s in Broncos color, whenever these future hall of famers face off, expect a lot of yds combined between these two. Last week, Brady & the Pats had to comeback from a 2 1-7 halftime deficit to smash the Bills. That same game, they had 2 running backs who ran over 100 yds in the same game. For the Broncos, Peyton was on it like clockwork carving up the Raiders in their win ( I guess he knocked some rust off). I bet NBC wish the flex schedule was available this week because they would want this game over the Chargers/Saints. The Pats are 7.5 home faves. This may come down to which qb has the ball w/ the game on the line. I like the Pats in a close one & the points sound far.

Noez:

Randy: New England

Buffalo vs San Francisco- The 49ers knocked off that Vikings loss & just laid it on the Jets. Their defense & Colin Kaepernick was their sparkplugs in that game. For the Bills, they were puffing their chest out, saying they were ready for the Pats, had a 3 td lead & blew it when Tom Brady carved them up in the 2nd half. I feel sorry for Ryan Fitzpatrick because if they made Mark Sanchez throw 3 ints & got the NY media on his ass, I wonder what his numbers were gonna to look like. Don’t expect Spiller & Fred Jackson to go off either because the 49ers can stop the run. The 49ers are 8 pt home faves. I like them winning by 10.

Noez:

Randy: San Francisco

San Diego vs New Orleans- The Saints are still looking for their 1st win & they hope they can get some magic from Sean Payton, Joe Vitt, & Mickey Loomis as they will make an appearance in the Superdome for that game. Drew Brees asked Goodell permission for them to show up because his next td pass will break Johnny Unitas’ record for consective games thowing a td pass. Let me get this straight. Payton & Vilma were suspended for a yr because of Bounty Gate, yet Vilma, Hargrove, Smith, & Fujita’s suspension were overturned, but Payton ‘s still not coaching? They might as well drop Payton’s suspension as well. For the Chargers, they are coming off a win in Kansas City. However, they’ll be slight attention this week. The Saints are 3.5 home faves. I know the Saints are going to win a game at some point, but it won’t be this week. I like the Chargers by a fg.

Noez:

Randy: New Orleans

Monday

Houston vs NY Jets- The Texans are hot & picked a great week to enter the Big Apple. The Jets are a mess, they lost another player to a season ending injury in Santino Holmes & instead of signing a player like Plaxico Buress, Chad Johnson, or Terrell Owens, they signed Jason Hill, who last played w/ the Jags last yr. Oh yeah, don’t forget about the NY media already asking Rex is he gonna make the change & bench Sanchez for Tebow. At least the Yankees being in the postseason can get the Daily News, New York Post, & NY Times off their backs. The Texans are clicking on all cylinders offensively & defensively. They are 4.5 pt road faves. I like them & the over. It’s gonna be ugly so bad that Tebow’s gonna get garbage or better yet, he’ll take over for Sanchez in the 2nd half if the score gets that bad. I love you Havana gf, but the Jets & Sanchez are a mess.

Noez:

Randy: Houston.

That’s my time for this week. Last week, Randy continued his dominance in pick em w/ a 10-5 record while I finished w/ a 7-8 record (Noez forgot to turn in his picks). Congrats to the Yankees & Athletics for clinching the AL East & West titles. Big double shoutouts to Miguel Cabera for winning the triple crown (HE SHOULD BE AL MVP!!). Funny thing about this MLB postseason: the Yanks have homefield advantage throughout the AL playoffs, yet they will have to start the ALDS on the road against the winner of the Baltimore/Texas one game play-off (c’mon son). Happy b-day shoutouts to Lisa Franco Mendoza, Julie Serafin, Rossana Bianchi, Ruben Benitez, Jse Espinoza, & the CEO of Luxury Soul Sean Quintana (catch you on Friday @ Havana House. Shout outs to Steven Screws (we need a “Screws U” blog) & every sports fan out there. To my girl Leticia Robinson, great chat we had on Skype on Tuesday & be safe out there. Til then, I’m out. Peace
