Week 3 preview

Rest in Peace Steve Sabol!! NFL Films won’t be the same w/out you or your dad!! Sabol for HOF 2013

What a 2nd week we had in the NFL! We saw 7 teams, including the 49ers go 2-0, the Bucs go cheap shot on the Giants on a kneel down play (c’mon son), the replacement refs screwing up majorly in week 2 games & Gregg Williams dry snitching on Jonathan Vilma on an affidavit about bounty gate. I wonder what we got for week 3. Before I start, I definitely got to say Rest in Peace to Steve Sabol, co founder of NFL films who lost his battle to brain cancer yesterday.

NY Giants vs Carolina- Both teams are coming off wins last week. The Giants had to come back from a double digit deficit to beat Tampa Bay, but that game ended in controversy (more on that later) while the Panthers rebounded from that poor performance vs Tampa in week 1 to defeat the Saints last week (shout outs to my cousins Karl & his wife Sheliette who went to that game). The Giants won’t have Ahmad Bradshaw, Hakeem Nicks & Prince Akumara for this game, so the defense will need to be a team effort to stop “Killa” Cam Newton. The Panthers hope their running game can show up again. The Panthers are 2.5 home favorites. I like the G-man & take the slight points.

Randy: NYG

Tampa Bay vs Dallas- Both teams are coming off losses last week. The Bucs blew a double digit lead to the Giants, which resulted in a loss & Greg Schiano starting issues by having his lineman bumped into the Giants center, which resulted in knocking over Eli Manning & Tom Coughlin being pissed. The Cowboys had their Dr Jekyll & Mr. Hyde effect hit them. One week after defeating the champs on opening night, they went to Seattle & just self destructed. I wonder what Cowboys team is gonna show up this week. Oh yeah, by the way, Jerry Jones thinks they should eliminate the kneel down. I wonder why he was saying this. The Cowboys are 9 pt home faves. Something’s telling me an upset is brewing. I like the Bucs, but take the under (sorry Letty Bear)

Randy: Dallas

Jacksonsville vs Indianapolis- The Colts got their 1st win in the Andrew Luck era last week. I swear he looked like Manning in the 2 min drill for that win (thank god you have Adam Vinateri as a kicker as well). The Jags on the other hand, were manhandled by the Texans last week. Both teams are in rebuilding phases w/ young qb’s in Luck & Gabbert. Another divisional battle, so expect a close battle. The Colts are 1.5 home faves. I like the Colts, plus the points

Randy: Indianapolis

Buffalo vs Cleveland- The Bills responded from the Jets beatdown to score 40+ on their own vs the Chiefs while my Browns lost a close one in the Natti, however Trent Richardson had his coming out party & Brandon Weeden redeemed himself from his dismal debut. This is a short week for my Browns as they play Baltimore on Thursday after this game. It’s gonna have a great running back match-up between Richardson & C.J. Spiller as well. The Bills are a fg road faves. I like my Browns & the points. However, I hope the secondary don’t get toast like last week.

Randy: Buffalo

NY Jets vs Miami- Both teams are 1-1 heading into this game. The Jets offense went back to preseason mode vs the Steelers last week while the Dolphins & Reggie Bush couldn’t pick a perfect time to go H.A.M than last week vs the Raiders. Last time the Jets were in South Beach, it was the final week of last season & Santino Holmes picked a wrong time to throw a temper tantrum in a must win game. The Jets are a fg road fave. I like the Jets & their defense, especially w/ Revis hopefully to return to win this game & take the points (what up Havana gf).

Randy: Miami

Kansas City vs New Orleans- Both teams are 0-2, the Saints are being @ 0-2 is the surprising one. The Chiefs defense couldn’t stop a cold. Both the Falcons & Bills have scored 30+ on them last week & the Saints picked the right team to go postal on. The Saints have their defensive issues as well & Gregg Williams had to put himself back in the news w/ Vilma again. If that’s worse, Drew Brees is ranked #28 in quarterback rating. The Saints are 9.5 home faves. Take the Saints and the over.

Randy: New Orleans

Cincinatti vs Washington- Robert Griffin finally gets his home debut this week. Both teams are 1-1. The Bengals responded from the Monday night beatdown w/ a shootout win on my Browns while the Redskins were hurt by Josh Morgan throwing the ball at the Rams’ player during their final drive which resulted in them missing a long field goal to tie the game. Expect a nice young qb match-up between RG III & Andy Dalton & probably a shootout as well. The Redskins are a 2 pt home fave. I like them to win straight up as well

Randy: Cin

St. Louis vs Chicago- Another 1-1 match-up for both teams. The Bears are coming off the beatdown in Green Bay & Cutler was chewing out Webb & pushed him literally. The Rams are coming off a great win vs the Redskins last week. For the Bears, Cutler needs to redeem himself badly because the Chicago media was eating his ass up and for the Rams, they’re still taking baby steps, but Jeff Fisher has turned that culture around. The Bears are 10 pt home faves. I like the Bears, but take the under.

Randy: Chicago

San Francisco vs Minnesota- The 49ers are proven themselves that last season wasn’t a fluke. They’re 2-0, beaten two NFC North teams that made the playoffs last yr & Alex Smith is playing like a pro bowler. For the Vikings, they were caught by Andrew Luck & his 4th qtr magic. The Niners are clicking on all cylinfers (offense & defense), so don’t expect Adrian Peterson to make a major impact in this game. He won’t go over 100 yds this game. The 49ers are 6 pt road faves. Take them straight up.

Randy: San Francisco

Detroit vs Tennessee- This looks like a great match-up. The Lions were beaten by the Niners (no Harbaugh/ Schwartz handshake shenigans needed) while the Titans were popped in the mouth by the Chargers. It’s so frustrating for Titans that Chris Johsnon, who has only 18 yds rushing total after 2 games, threw his teammates under the bus. For the Lions, Calvin Johnson still hasn’t scored a td yet (Madden curse anyone) & Matthew Strafford has a low ass quarterback rating. Something has to give this game. The Lions are 4 pt road faves. I like the Lions & the under.

Randy: Tennessee

Atlanta vs San Diego- Both teams are 2-0 heading into this game. The Falcons defense & the replacement refs beat the Broncos & Peyton Manning on Monday night while the Chargers manhandled the Titans in their home opener & on the same day they retired the late Junior Seau’s number (Rest in Power to him). For the Falcons, they hope Michael Turner’s distraction (DUI arrest after Monday night football in 5am #cmonson) doesn’t affect this game. Plus, this is a homecoming for him, since he started his career in the 619. For the Chargers, I wonder if Ryan Matthews would be available for this game this week. However, we’re gonna have a nice tight end match-up between the future hall of famer Tony Gonzalez & Antonio Gates. The Chargers are 1.5 home pts. I like the Falcons to win a close game in Diego (Matty Ice all day)

Randy: San Diego

Philadelphia vs Arizona- Whoever thought the Cards would be coming into this game 2-0 is crazy. Both teams are 2-0. The Cards shocked the world by beating the Patroits on the road when Stephen Gostkowski missed a gimmie to win w/ 30 seconds left while the Eagles had another nail biting win over an AFC North squad & Michael Vick needed another 4th qtr comeback to do the job. It’s nice that the Eagles are winning, but averaging 4 turnovers a game is a no-no. It’s a homecoming for DRC as he returns to Glendale for the 1st time since being traded for Kevin Kolb & Kolb’s looking to be 2-0 vs the Eagles since he’s already beaten them last yr in Philly. The Eagles are 5 pt road faves. I like the Eagles, but take the under & they better take care of the ball this week.

Randy: Arizona

Pittsburgh vs Oakland- The Raiders are 0-2 & it looks like everything could be worse as they host the Steelers this week. McFadden had a dismal game last week & the defense made Reggie Bush look like Barry Sanders. For the Steelers, they shook off the Peyton Manning debacle & manhandled Mark Sanchez & the Jets. The Steelers made have some good news w/ Rashad Mendahall probably returning this game. They needed that boost because I know they don’t want Big Ben airing it out 50 times a game. Let’s hope that infield diamond is gone because the Raiders’ long snapper couldn’t get a break on Monday night 2 weeks ago. The Steelers are a fg road fave. I hate the wack & yellow, but even I know the Raiders won’t beat them. Take the wack & yellow & the over.

Noez: Oak

Randy: Pitt

Houston vs Denver- The Broncos get to return back to Invesco Field after that bs performance on Monday vs the Falcons. Peyton Manning throws 3 ints in the 1st qtr, the replacement refs screwing them, yet they only lost by 6 because Willis McGahee kept them in that game. For the Texans, they took care of business last week vs the Jags as Arian Foster went H.A.M on them. The Texans are 2-0, bur they will be in a dog fight, especially when you have to face Manning & they were used to him when he was w/ the Colts. The Texans are a pt road fave. I like the Texans straight up, but if it’s a close game w/ 2 mins, watch out for Peyton time.

Randy: Denver

New England vs Baltimore- The rematch of the AFC championship game caps off the Sunday schedule & what a game NBC’s gonna have. Both teams are 1-1 & coming off heartbreaking losses, The Ravens to the Eagles while the Pats lost a close one to Arizona & it got worse that they won’t have the services of Aaron Hernandez for a month because of an ankle sprain. They made some moves by bringing back Deion Branch & signing Kellen Winslow Jr. to fill in for Hernandez. Brady has a low ass quarterback rating (what’s up w/ that), the Cards defense were all over him. Just wait til Ray Ray & Ed Reed get in that ass. The Ravens will go as long as Joe Flacco will take them & please, somebody tell them that’s Ray Rice in the backfield, don’t freeze his ass out. The Ravens are a fg home fave. Take the Ravens & the pts

Randy: New England

Green Bay vs Seattle: The Seahawks get to host Monday night football this week & they are coming off a resounding win over them Cowboys last week. The Packers responded from the 49ers’ loss by dominating the Bears on Thursday night at home & Clay Matthews was in all-pro form on Jay Cutler. They needed that win because it would had been panic mode in Green Bay had they lost that game. For the Seahawks, they are in a dog fight in that NFC west w/ the 49ers & Cards tied w/ a 2-0 record & they are tied @ 1-1 w/ the Rams. Speaking of Green Bay, to Jermichael Finley’s agent: stay in your motherfucking lane. Don’t worry about if Aaron Rodgers is a great team leader or not, worry bout your client’s financial situation. The Packers are a 6 pt road fave. I like the Pack to win straight up.

Randy: Green Bay

That’s my blog for this week. Happy b-day shoutouts to Nicholas Smith, Jennifer Martinez, Eddie Fontes, Melissa Moore, Jennifer Beckman (what up Super Coop), Cheryl Zaha, Joaquin Delgado, my boy Allister Carlos, Paul Velasquez, Carlos Hernandez, & last but not least my niece Dejah Irving aka Fudgebar who hits 15!!
