’06 all over again

Can somebody say “deja vu” all over again? After a long 82 game season, the 1st round of playoffs, we have come down to the final dance of the postseason. The NBA Finals. This is where legends are made & stars are born. There are some interesting storylines for this finals. So to avoid the spoiler, let’s preview it shall we.

NBA Finals

2) Miami vs 3) Dallas- After a summer of “the Decision”, the pre-celebration where ‘Bron had the famous ” not 5, not 6, not 7″ line, I guess the hype was real. The Heat made it back to the dance for 2nd time & are looking to capture something they haven’t had in 6 yrs: a title. However, a familar fole stands in their way: The Dallas Mavericks. Can you say “2006” all over again. Only 4 players remain from that match-up (Dirk & Jason Terry for Dallas, D Wade & Udonis Haslem for Miami). We all remember like it was yesterday: Dallas dominating the 2 games at home, then the Legend of Dwayne Wade was born. The next 3 games in South Beach, Wade was lights out, carrying his team, which include Shaq( yeah I said it), plus leadership & fight from grizzly veterans like Gary Payton & Alonzo Mourning, the Heat won all 3 games & then closed them in game 6 in Dallas to capture their 1st time. Both teams are back, but different roster. Both teams took only 5 games to eliminate both Oklahoma City & Chicago (youth & poor late game decision making hurt both teams). For the Mavs, Dirk Nowitzki has been playing out of his mind & it has helps that their bench along w/ veterans Jason Kidd, Shawn Marion, & Jason Terry helped along the way. For the Heat, Wade & Lebron carried the 1st 2 rounds, but I’m sorry, Chris Bosh was the conference finals mvp. He picked a right time to go H.A.M on the Bulls, knowing that Carlos Boozer was having a dismal postseason (I guess Paxson probably wants his $80 million back), I guess he was getting tired of playing the 5th wheel. My prediction of the finals: all I got to say is 2004. The reason I said that: that yr, the Lakers acquired Karl Malone & Gary Payton to accompany Shaq & Kobe & everybody assumed they’ll win the title. Who won the title that yr? Not them. They lost to the Detroit Pistons, a team coached by Larry Brown who always preached to “play the right way”. So, I got to root for the Mavs & for 2 reason. No.1 is obvious: I don’t want to see Lebron winning that ring & have last summer thrown back in my face. hearing that he made the right move by shaking Cleveland. No.2 reason is a surprise: I want to see Jason Kidd win a ring. Him and Grant Hill are still repping us old guys because I was a junior @ Whittier High when him & Hill won co-rookie of the yr in 1994. Alsoi, he’s the closest thing to Magic Johnson we have when it comes to a past 1st guard. Getting triple doubles, doing the small things.

That’s my time. Any opinions or feedback, you can leave it @ facebook page @ facebook.com/djplaymaker 10 or @ the site @ neitherworldradio.wordpress.com. Gotta a surprise blog coming soon. Until then, Peace.
