NFL Wild Card Fever 2010/2011

by: Dj Playmaker

At last, the real season is here!1 Playoff fever & I hope everyone can catch the excitement we are bout to have the next 5 weeks. In the NFC, the Falcons run homefield while in the AFC, the Pats call shots. This week, it’s wild card weekend & all the matchups are rematches of contest in the previous season. Let’s break them down shall we.

Saturday

New Orleans vs Seattle- The Seahawks became the 1st 7-9 team to make the postseason & they did it by winning the NFC West. Their reward? They get to host the defending champs in an opening game. Last time these teams met, New Orleans put it on the Seahawks 35-14. Pet Carroll still doesn’t know whether to start Hasselback or Whitehurst @ quarterback. It’s going be ugly for one team & it’s the Seahawks. Should the Saints click on all cylinders, look out. Saints by 17.

N.Y. Jets vs Indianapolis- This is a rematch of last yr’s AFC title, when the Colts had to rally from 17 pts down to win the game. It was Mark Sanchez’s rookie yr in the postseason, as well as Rex Ryan’s. He calls this matchup “personal”. The Jets had it ugly to reach the wildcard while the Colts had tro dig deep to win the AFC south. If there was one team besides the Chargers, that can beat the Colts in the dome, I think the Jets can. I’m going out on a limb & calling for an upset. Jets by a field goal.

Sunday

Baltimore vs Kansas City- The Ravens travel to Arrowhead to face the Chiefs in this wild card opening game. The Chiefs almost went undefeated @ home this yr, only losing to the Raiders in the season finale. The Ravens are probably the only wild card team, besides the Steelers that can give New England a run for their money. Expect a defensive battle. The combo of Jamal Charles & Thomas Jones hope to run on that Ravens’ d. I doubt that’ll happen. If Cassell can’t get nothing going, you can forget it for the Chiefs. I see the Ravens winning by a touchdown.

Green Bay vs Philadelphia- This is a rematch from week 1 on this season. The Packers won the game 27-20. In that game, Clay Matthews Jr. injured Kevin Kolb, which started the comeback story of Michael Vick. Oh my, how things change. Vick is 2-0 in opening games in the playoffs. The Packers still rely on Aaron Rodgers & defense. This will probably be the best game on Sunday. It’ll be a close one. I like the Eagles by a Akers field goal.

That’s my time reviewing wild card weekend. Before I end this, I would like to send a special, posthumous 32 nd b-day shoutout to my lil’ bro Terrance Brewster. It’s still ;love from the family side as well from the Neitherworld radio crew. Nobody saw the Seahawks beating the Saints..with that being said I did pick the Jets..I’m starting to lean toward the Cheifs over the Ravens for the upset, & I’m taking the Eagles over Green Bay.
